Default Vitas Tomkus (Lithuania)

Vitas Tomkus

Silly White man, don't you know that only Jews can enjoy freedom of speech?

Oh the outrage….

The pro-Jewish publication The Baltic Times recently posted an article on its website castigating Vitas Tomkus, a Lithuanian whose newspaper Respublika, was fined earlier this week for allegedly "inciting racial and ethnic hatred," after Tomkus had the gall to suggest that Jews wield a disproportionate amount influence in world affairs. Imagine that?

Whatever writer penned the piece for the Baltic Times wasn’t in the least bit concerned with consistency as he or she noted that Tomkus’ "publishing business [had] the second largest position [in] the Lithuanian advertising market and last year racked up sales of 20 million euros" [in sales]. Immediately after making the above statement the writer then switched tactics, predictably linking anyone who would suggests such things as Tomkus had to the Holocaust, and at the same time desperately trying to marginalize the publishers importance in Lithuania, stating "Those who bothered to read Tomkus’ long-winded, stream-of-consciousness ravings in Respublika, a paper published in both Lithuanian and Russian, understand that the only possible thing more openly anti-Semitic is a World War II concentration camp." It should go without saying that at least a few people are reading Tomkus’ "ravings," after all, if we are to believe the contradictory author, he commands the second largest share of the Lithuanian media market.

Well of course the writer’s tactics in the above respect come as no surprise to us, but it continues… Without the slightest hesitation the author then self-righteously implies that he/she is aghast that in Lithuania "one can write about nations, culture, religions, entire groups of people whatever one wants and not have to bear any liability." Perhaps they aren’t familiar with the fact that the same holds true in the bastion of freedom itself, the United States of American, at least as far as the establishment media is concerned. Back in February 2003, the Florida Court of Appeals overturned a jury verdict (although not its findings) that found Fox News guilty of distorting and falsifying news accounts essentially okaying the idea that the media can lie to its viewers because "it is not against any promulgated law, rule, or regulation for a licensed broadcaster to deliberately distort the news or lie on the air."

The article then proceeds to denounce Tomkus because he "appears" about to gain a controlling interest in another Lithuanian media outlet, a no-no for Goyim; but not a mention of his Jewish-Russian Oligarch predecessors Gusinsky and Berezovsky! My heavens no!

In the end the article is nothing more than a recap, it reiterates the same tired and predicable story we see time and again in the United States, Goyim states fact, Jews react with litigation, litigation fails, Goy is smeared in the media, etc… etc… ad nauseum.

The below story goes with the above:

Steve Rothman

Jewish Congressman Powerfully proves Jews Have no Power

Let’s all thank United States Congressman Steve Rothman for proving Vytas Tomkus’ thesis that Jews rule the world to be incorrect! After hearing that Tomkus’ newspaper Respublika printed an article saying as much, Congressman Rothman, a Jew, immediately set out to prove to the world that Jews don’t wield that kind of power by leaning on the Lithuanian Ambassador Vygaudas Ušackas to "forcefully condemn the malicious message of hatred and intolerance in the news pieces," subtly suggesting that if Lithuania didn’t begin to see things Rothman’s way they [Lithuania] might not be accepted into the European Union.

Update: The Lithuanian government caved into the pressure and vociferously condemned the thesis of Vytas Tomkus and his newspaper, Respublika.

Sad week for Lithuania

Jul 13, 2005

Last week a Vilnius court found publisher and editor Vitas Tomkus guilty of inciting racial and ethnic hatred for a series of scathing articles he personally penned in his newspaper in the beginning of 2004. That’s the good news. The bad news is that not only was the defendant not compelled to appear in court to answer questions, but the judge ordered Tomkus, who believes that Jews and gays run the world, to pay a paltry penalty of 3,000 litas.

Now, at least, we know the price of anti-Semitism in Lithuania: a mere 870 euros – chump-change for small businessmen, let alone media tycoons like Tomkus, whose publishing business has the second largest position on the Lithuanian advertising market and last year racked up sales of 20 million euros. The judge felt, however, that since it was Tomkus’ first offense, there was no need to seize assets. Something akin to letting a first-time killer keep the gun.

Those who bothered to read Tomkus’ long-winded, stream-of-consciousness ravings in Respublika, a paper published in both Lithuanian and Russian, understand that the only possible thing more openly anti-Semitic is a World War II concentration camp. Yet sadly, the racism charges against him almost never made it to court: the original case was closed in February of this year on the basis that the articles did not constitute a criminal offense. Astonishing, yet true. It is as if in Lithuania one can write about nations, culture, religions, entire groups of people whatever one wants and not have to bear any liability.

Ironically, or perhaps prophetically, the drama continued soon after the court verdict. Five days later, a Tomkus’ company won an auction for a 40 percent interest in Elta, Lithuania’s leading news and photo agency. Though a controlling stake remains in the hands of the MG Baltic concern, there is no telling what the future holds. Considering that Tomkus paid 1.3 million euros over the starting price (580,000 euros), it would appear that he intends to gain control over the agency. Lo and behold, on July 13, the morning after the auction, the Lithuania media was reporting just that: Tomkus is obsessed with acquiring MG Baltic’s stake.

It does not take a genius to see what will happen to the news agency once it in the hands of a Tomkus. At the same time, such a development needn’t be the worst thing for those in the business of news in the Baltics. Market forces will balance things out. If a madman takes over a business, even a monopolistic one, that only opens up doors for entrepreneurial individuals to open up a competing outfit and fill in the niche.

Elta employees beware.

Someone who criticizes jews and fags is equated to a murderer.
