Default Private companies set for windfall over destruction of alleged Syrian chemical weapons

The International chemical weapons watchdog has invited proposals from private companies around the world to destroy a major part of Syrian deadly stockpile that could yield them an estimated 47 million dollars.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said that the commercial companies could send proposals until November 29 for the destruction of roughly 800 tonnes of harmless toxin substances, the Independent reports.

According to the report, the chemicals listed in the invitation include organic and inorganic chemicals, as well as effluents associated with the mission and packaging, but excludes the most dangerous substances, such as actual nerve agents or weapons.

The agency is exploring the possibility of shipping this 50 tonnes of dangerous agents to a Syrian port and destroying them on a ship in the Mediterranean using a portable incineration plant recently developed by the Pentagon.

However, the U.S. has not reached on any final decision on the sea-borne option.

I find this amusing. This may be plan B, C, or even D.

Let me refresh what it looked like to me...what plan A was.

The ONLY plan more likely, or one similar - Albania is an EU candidate (smoke and mirrors).

What's funnier is that within spitting distance of Syria, in Israel, there's probably a hell of a lot more, and nobody says anything ,"OPCW" or whomever.
