I just discovered that the article called Berber, Egyptian and Hittite Dene-Caucasian languages. This is obviously bollox. Berber and Egyptian are Afro-Asiatic, while Hittite is Indo-European, and therefore belong to the Nostratic superfamily. Berber is, however, ergative to some extent, like Dene-Caucasian in general, but Indo-European, and Nostratic in general, are thought to be ergative at some point in history. Anyway, languages shift relatively easily from ergative to accusative.

I was in Greece in 1992, I saw Athens, went to Mykonos, Rhodes and a few other islands the names of which I don’t remember right now. That visit left me with the impression that the modern Greeks are not terribly impressive people, I remember them as being short, barrel bodied and unattractive, in fact I don’t remember seeing one attractive woman that was confirmed to be Greek and not a tourist. Aside from their unattractive appearance their economy is also unimpressive, they are socialistic and live primarily from tourism which equates to lots of low wage service type jobs. Athens, their largest city, was a noisy, badly run, unclean place, full of incredibly ugly 1960ies architecture.

I´m afraid that the people occupying modern Greece have very little to do with the truly impressive people of antiquity. Perhaps if I visit there again sometime I may get a more positive impression of them.

I agree. I was there, in 1990. I only saw 3 attractive Greeks. The attractive rest were tourists. Like you said, they only developed the coastline for tourism. Once you started traveling inland, it looked like a 3rd world country. I especially remember the dried up blood on the road from where stray domestic animals ended up as roadkill. Since, it didn't rain for awhile, the blood never had a chance to wash off.
The Greeks, on average, suck. They don't seem to like fair-complected people. And, I remember entering this nightclub and asked one of the 3 attractive females in Greece to dance. She accepted and we went onto the dance floor. A group of Greek males were following us wherever we went, in that club. Her girlfriend whispered something to her. Then, she told me she had to sit down. I noticed these guys following me in the club. So, I was assured as to what it was all about and decided that it was no use to try hooking up with one of the local girls.
I didn't find Greece to be an inexpensive country. There were no supermarkets to where you could buy packaged meat. You had to go to a butcher who didn't understand anything you were saying. Or, at least he was pretending not to. They don't have bone saws, there. So, a large meat axe is used to cut off way more than you can consume and the meat is full of bone chips.
The following year, I travelled to southern France. It was nice to be back in a civilized country
