Sir Clement Freud and the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

The recent revelations by three of his alleged victims that Sir Clement Freud – the late jewish broadcaster and liberal Member of the British Parliament - was a long time paedophile and rapist. Have come as a new shock to the British political establishment desperate to bury the scandals associated with paedophiles freely operating in its ranks.

I have covered why I think the claims made against Freud are probably true and not fabricated hysteria in a separate article. (1) However another dimension to the Freud paedophilia case quickly reared its ugly head: Madeleine McCann.

The Express quickly noted that Freud developed a close relationship with the McCanns out of the blue two months after the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine. (2) In addition to the fact that Freud owned a holiday villa that he regularly used in the Praia da Luz resort in Portugal meters away from where the McCanns were living. (3)

Further we know from the revelations of Sylvia Woosley that Freud sexually abused her when she was 10 year old in the late 1940s. (4)

This puts Freud in the position of being a known paedophile with a private residence in close proximity to where a three year old British girl disappears in Portugal and whose parents he seeks to befriend out of the blue two months after the event occurs.

Further the fact that we know Freud usually holidayed in the Praia da Luz resort alone – except for his Portuguese maid and gardener – suggests that he may well have been hiding something given that he was also associating with known paedophiles while he was in Portugal. (5)

So serious is this new lead being taken by the authorities that detectives have been quickly dispatched to find out what truth – if any – there is to this intriguing new possibility. (6)

I await their findings with interest, but it is certainly one of the most credible explanations so far advanced and one that is intuitively very appealing.

We shall see.
