Hungary Neo Nazis March in Budapest

Saturday, 09 February 2008

By BosNewsLife News Center

Neo Nazis gathered in Budapest, Saturday, February 9.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (BosNewsLife)-- An estimated 2,000 members of Hungarian and international neo-Nazi groups gathered in downtown Budapest Saturday, February 9, to commemorate that German and Hungarian troops attempted to break out of the besieged Hungarian capital during the lasts days of World War Two.

Neo-Nazi skinheads from Hungary, Germany, and other European countries lined up in a military-style formation inside a metal cordon built around Budapest's Heroes Square and erected a wooden cross with the words "Blood and Virtue" written on it.

They commemorated an attempt by the fascist Hungarian Arrow Cross party on February 11, 1945, to break out Budapest's Castle District, which was surrounded by Soviet troops. Hungary was a close ally of Nazi Germany during the war, when an estimated 600,000 Hungarian Jews were massacred.

Hundreds of people demonstrated against the event. They putting their hands on their necks as "silent victims" when the neo-Nazis, wearing black leather coats and boots, sang the Hungarian anthem.

YOUNGSTERS DETAINED

Sunday's protest came just days after police detained two youngsters, who admitted of desecrating Jewish tombs in south-western Hungary last week. Representatives of the Jewish community in the town of Kaposvar reported to police that anti-Semitic symbols were spray-painted on 24 tombstones in the local cemetery.

The perpetrators used silver-colored paint to spell out "our country is not for sale" as well as painting a swastika, an Arrow Cross and a Star of David, which was crossed out, news reports said. In addition the far-right paramilitary Magyar Garda, or Hungarian Garda, has held demonstrations in areas where many Gypsies, or Roma, are living.

Far rights groups have also supported anti-government demonstrations and there has been concern they are involved in several patrol bomb attacks against parliamentarians of the ruling Hungarian Socialist Party. On Saturday, February 9, Hungary's Justice Minister Albert Takacs said unknown attackers threw petrol bombs into the houses of five Socialist Parliamentarians. Several other Socialist politicians reportedly received envelopes containing white powder in the post that turned out to be harmless.

National Police Chief Jozsef Bencze said police offers would provide personal protection as well as patrols of areas surrounding homes of threatened parliamentarians. "In the current situation all MPs are, thankfully, okay," Hungarian News Agency MTI quoted Bencze as saying. (With BosNewLife's Stefan J. Bos).

BUDAPEST (AFP) — The Hungarian Constitutional Court said Monday it rejected Socialist-initiated amendments of the country's hate speech bill, calling them unconstitutional.

The amendments would cause the curtailing of freedom of expression, the court said in a statement.

Jobbik calls for return of notorious Gendarmerie

August 10, 2009

http://jta.org/news/article/2009/08/...of-gendarmerie

BUDAPEST (JTA) -- Hungary's ultranationalist Jobbik Party called for the reconstitution of the infamous Hungarian Gendarmerie.

The Gendarmerie served as Hungary's main law enforcement agency, responsible for the deportation of Jews and Roma, or Gypsies, during the Holocaust.

Jobbik leader Gabor Vona told demonstrators at an Aug. 3 rally in Budapest that the Gendarmerie was needed to enforce law and order on the Roma in the countryside. He also declared war on financial crime and advised “international bankers” objecting to that “to leave the country.”

About 150 party activists and sympathizers attended the rally in front of the Ministry of Finance and the Banking Alliance to protest an “international financial conspiracy” as well as “Gypsy crime” allegedly threatening the Hungarian nation.

It was held one day after an unprovoked attack on an isolated Roma home that left a woman dead and her daughter seriously injured. Police say it was part of a recent series of racially motivated attacks perpetrated by hooded death squads that has claimed six lives and caused many injuries.

Vona’s call for the revival of the disbanded Gendarmerie was made following a court order banning the paramilitary Hungarian Guard, a Jobbik offshoot, which had been modeled after the murderous Nazi Arrow-Cross movement, another instrument of terror deployed in Hungary during the Holocaust.

Rally participants flew the red-and-white striped flag of the Arrow-Cross and one sign advised “bankers” to “be afraid.” Unlike some previous rallies, there were no violent confrontations nor Hungarian Guard uniforms on display.

Default Neo-fascists riot in Budapest

Submitted by WW4 Report on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 19:47.

At least six were injured and 15 arrested as far-right protesters clashed with police, threw stones and petrol bombs and damaged shops and cars along Andrassy Boulevard in Budapest Sept. 20. Police fired tear gas and water cannons on the protesters—many wearing swastikas and chanting anti-Semitic slogans. Police moved in after a right-wing mob attacked people leaving a pro-tolerance rally called by the Hungarian Democratic Charter movement and Roma organizations.

An estimated 1,000 supporters of the far-right Jobbik Party and youth organization Sixty-four Counties gathered at Heroes' Square to march along Andrassy Boulevard to the anti-violence rally. Many wearing ski masks and carrying the red-and-white stripes associated with Hungary's radical right, the protesters converged on Szabadsag Square, where the Charter demonstration, attended by some 4,500 people including Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, was being held, and attacked attendees as they tried to leave the square. After police moved in, they retreated back up Andrassy Boulevard, smashing shop windows, vandalizing parked cars and setting a police car on fire. The injured included an elderly woman and five police.

Laszlo Toroczkai, a leader of Sixty-four Counties, said that the protesters were "warriors to save Hungary" in a fight which was provoked by Gyurcsany and Roma leader Orban Kolompar. Another rightist leader, Gyorgy Budahazy, called the pro-tolerance rally a "plot between Jews and gypsies." (The Budapest Times, Turkey, Sept. 21; AlJazeera, Sept. 21)

Hungary under ‘great pressure’ from US over its energy deals with Russia

Published time: November 08, 2014 05:03

Washington is exerting heavy pressure on Hungary over the country’s decision to give a green light for the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline and expedite the construction by allowing companies without licenses to participate in the project.

“The US is putting Hungary under great pressure fearing Moscow’s rapprochement with Budapest,” Hungarian media cited Prime Minister Viktor Orban saying in Munich, Germany after a meeting with Bavarian state premier Horst Seehofer.

Orban said that Hungary's relations with Russia have become “entangled in geopolitical and military and security policy issues,” AFP reports. The PM said that US is retaliating for Budapest's willingness to endorse the South Stream gas pipeline development as well as a deal that would see Russia’s Rosatom expand Hungary’s nuclear power.

Under a deal worth up to €10 billion Rosatom will build a 2,000 megawatt addition to Hungary's state-owned nuclear power plant MVM Paksi Atomeromu. Russia is Hungary’s largest trade partner outside of the EU, with exports worth $3.4 billion in 2013. Also it is highly dependent on Russian energy.

“We don’t want to get close to anyone, and we don’t intend to move away from anybody,” Orban said. “We are not pursuing a pro-Russian policy but a pro-Hungarian policy,” as expansion of the nuclear plant was the “only possible means”to lower dependence on external energy resources.

The PM remained firm that “cheap energy is key in strengthening Hungary’s competitiveness” as he also defended the law which gave a green light for the construction of the South Stream pipeline that would bypass Ukraine as a transit nation in EU gas supply chain.

It “ensures Hungary gas supplies by eliminating risks posed by situation in Ukraine,” Orban said. “Even if South Stream does not diversify gas sources, it diversifies delivery routes.”

But Monday's move by Budapest on the gas project angered Brussels as the EU threatened to fine member states if they violate sanctions and pursue construction of South Stream Pipeline.

Orban, who on previous occasions has called Western sanctions on Russia “counterproductive” has faced fury from Washington.

The attacks on Viktor Orban and his government “demonstrate that it doesn’t matter what label you go under – if you don’t do exactly what Uncle Sam and the Euro-elite tell you to do - your country will come under great pressure to conform. And all of course in the name of freedom and democracy,” journalist and writer Neil Clark told RT.

Washington may also be worried that Hungarian energy firm MOL will sell its 49 percent stake in Croatia's energy giant INA to a Russian firm, Reuters reported. The Hungarian state has a 24.7 percent stake in MOL. Earlier Washington blacklisted six people with ties to the Hungarian government from entering the United States, accusing them of involvement in corruption

Default Color Revolution Begins In Hungary

It should be no surprise that a color revolution has begun in the birthplace of the Jew George Soros. Even less astounding is the fact that Jewess Victoria Nuland is involved. See articles at Hungarian Ambiance.

Luckily, there are still enclaves, in Europe, where Gypsies keep their heads down. Slovakia and former East Germany, for example. Here, Gypsies getting bold, in trivialist Bulgaria:

Default Nationalists oppose Chanukah filth

December 23, 2008

BUDAPEST (JTA) -- Neo-Nazi protesters disrupted a Chanukah celebration in Budapest.

Members of the Hungarian Guard shouted anti-Semitic epithets in the middle of Heroes Square, not far from where several hundred mostly young people lit torches to celebrate the holiday. The Chanukah program was organized by the Balint-Haz Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Agency for Israel and Hungarian Jewish youth organizations.

The Chanukah crowd was attempting to create the shape of a chanukiyah using people and torches.

A local rabbi, Tamas Vero, congratulated them for coming to the public square to create what he called the largest human chanukiyah. He asked God to bless all of the participants in the event and the nearby protesters.

The extremists raised a red-and-white striped Arpad flag, used by a far-right-wing, pro-German, anti-Semitic national socialist party led by Ferenc Szálasi that ruled Hungary from Oct. 15, 1944 to January 1945, and sent thousands of Jews to their deaths.

Police reportedly registered the identities of some of the protesters.

Hungary Far-Right Protests Against `Roma Crime` About 100-200 members of the Guard in black uniforms also attended the protest.

Members of the radical nationalist organisation Hungarian Guard attend a rally against a rise of "Roma crime" in Budapest

More than 1,000 supporters of Hungary's far-right Jobbik party protested on Friday against what they say is a rise in serious crimes committed by Roma people.
Jobbik, which defines itself as a "national Christian party" and fights against "Roma crime", hopes to make political gains following increasingly public demonstrations of antagonism against the largest minority in Hungary, the Roma.

"This problem (of crime) is swept under the carpet, this must be tackled," said Imre Torok, 39, a captain of the Hungarian Guard, a radical nationalist organisation.

About 100-200 members of the Guard in black uniforms also attended the protest. The group is backed by Jobbik.

"Unfortunately, the number of crimes committed by Roma people has increased significantly and this is a matter of public security," Torok told Reuters at the rally.

Hungary has one of the largest Roma communities in eastern Europe, making up 5 to 7 percent of the population of 10 million. For decades, they have remained on the margins, lacking jobs and proper education and their prospects deteriorated after the fall of communism when heavy industries collapsed.

A deepening recession and loss of jobs across the Hungarian economy this year worsens their chances of finding a way out from social deprivation.

Jobbik had 4 percent support among decided voters in an opinion poll by Szonda Ipsos in January and their growing support raises chances of the party winning a seat in European Parliament elections in June, analysts have said.

The murder of a Romanian handball player in Hungary last weekend in which the suspects are Roma triggered further tensions and public demonstrations against Roma.

The minority Socialist government, whose popularity has slumped since 2006 due to tax rises and failed reforms, has said more public works programmes and a strong police are needed.

Maybe, Hungary should do as the Germans, by giving the Roma national citizenship. This way, Roma crime would disappear from the statistics

Neo-Nazis Rally In Budapest To Mark WW2 Battle `Europe`s old inhabitants, losing their traditions, have been reduced to existing here on the margins,` said Janos Endre Domokos.

Members of Neo-nazi group Blood and Honour` commemorates the `Day of Pride` in Budapest`s Heroes Square

About two thousand neo-Nazis from across Europe marked the anniversary of a World War Two battle in Budapest on Saturday and called for the continent to protect itself from foreign influence.
Several groups mark every year what they call "the Day of Honour", when German and Hungarian troops tried to break out of the Hungarian capital, besieged by the Soviet army, in 1945. The event normally attracts a few hundred people.

"Europe's old inhabitants, losing their traditions, have been reduced to existing here on the margins," said Janos Endre Domokos, who heads Pax Hungarica, one of the organisers.

The far-right has gained some support in Hungary since the global financial crisis struck. Over 1,000 supporters of the Jobbik party protested on Friday against what they said was a rise in crimes committed by Romas, Hungary's largest minority.

On Saturday, police said they had detained five people, four because they were carrying equipment which could be used as weapons.

Hungary wants to sever IMF connections

15/07 17:57 CET

Asserting its economic sovereignty, Hungary plans to pay back an IMF loan early and wants the fund to shut its office in Budapest.

Hungary’s ability to avoid the austerity programmes forced on many of its European neighbours will be the main selling point when the government bids for re-election next year.

Central bank governor Gyorgy Matolcsy has written to IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde to say Hungary is considering an early repayment of the money it still owes from a 2008 loan that saved the country from bankruptcy.

Relations between Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government and the Fund have been strained since he rejected closer IMF scrutiny of his economic policies and launched unorthodox moves that included Europe’s highest bank tax and so-called “crisis taxes” on business, which have see international investment fall..

By issuing the country’s first international bond since 2011 in February, Orban demonstrated he could go it alone by borrowing on global financial markets.

Central bank chief Matolcsy, who is Orban’s former economy minister, said he would initiate closure of the IMF’s resident representative office in Budapest, saying it was “not necessary to maintain” any longer.

A good move, even though Hungary is already too integrated in the globalist power structure, meaning that it will not be able to resist alone.

Hungary: Orbán wasteland

Posing as a Hungarian freedom fighter, Viktor Orbán has railed against his country's chief investors: Germany and the EU

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...steland-leader

If Orban continues he will be toppled at the next election, if not then we may see another forced 'colour revolution'.

Of course if all else fails there is always the possibility of a Smolensk type accident, only it will be no accident.

Hungary's Supreme Court upholds ban on paramilitary group

http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/s...ary-group.html

Budapest - The Hungarian Supreme Court upheld on Tuesday a ban against the Hungarian Guard, a controversial paramilitary group linked to the nationalist party Jobbik, the state news agency MTI reported. "Through its activities, the group has overstepped the boundaries of freedom of expression," the court said after reaching its decision.

"We acknowledge, but do not accept the verdict," said Jobbik leader Gabor Vona, who was instrumental in setting up the paramilitary group.

Jobbik and representatives of the Hungarian Guard said they intend to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The nationalist group has been battling the courts since it was found guilty a year ago of violating the human rights of Roma villagers during an intimidating rally protesting what it calls "gypsy crime."

The ruling was upheld by a court of appeal in July. Nevertheless, a week later, Jobbik held a mass rally in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, at which party leaders and hundreds of supporters donned the banned black, white and red uniform.

Legislation introduced in November gave the authorities the power to impose a fine of 263 dollars on anyone wearing the group's uniform in defiance of the court ruling.

Jobbik won 15 per cent of the national vote in the European Parliament elections on June 7, securing three of Hungary's 22 seats after campaigning on an anti-Roma, Eurosceptic platform.

Default Teens charged in "beating" of Budapest Jew

Police charged two men in the assault of a Jewish man in the old Ghetto district of the Hungarian capital.

A third man was also arrested Wednesday, as investigations into last summer's assault in Budapest continue.

After the incident, Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai called on the police to be more vigilant against anti-Semitic attacks. In Hungary, violence targeting individuals for reason of their assumed racial, religious or national origins is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment.

The attack against an Orthodox Jewish man took place near the famous Dohány Street synagogue at dawn on June 30. It was carried out by three hooded assailants who allegedly asked the victim first whether he was Jewish. The victim, 27, suffered light injuries from several kicks and punches.

Both men charged by the police are in their late teens.

Chief Rabbi Somló Köves of the United Jewish-Hungarian Religious Community commented after the assault that public safety in the capital had been seriously undermined by the current upsurge of neo-Nazi agitation. Both the ruling Socialist government and the dominant conservative Fidesz parliamentary opposition have condemned the incident.

Hungary tries again to outlaw Holocaust denial

January 31, 2010

http://jta.org/news/article/2010/01/...locaust-denial

BUDAPEST, Hungary (JTA) -- Legislation to make Holocaust denial punishable by three years’ imprisonment has been introduced by the minority Hungarian caretaker government.

A quick passage of the long-delayed proposal into the statute books could take place before the April 11 parliamentary elections, said Attila Mesterházy, the prime ministerial candidate of the ruling Socialists, if the opposition parties agree.

This is very unlikely to happen, in the view of authoritative political observers here, but the proposal may well pave the way for such law reform by the next Parliament following April's elections. The government’s latest of several attempts to make Holocaust denial illegal was introduced on Jan. 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Ceremonies last week to honor the Holocaust dead, who included some 600,000 Hungarian Jews, were attended in Budapest by Avigdor Lieberman, Israel's deputy prime minister and foreign minister. Lieberman declared that the most effective approach to countering the current aggressive rise of anti-Semitism in Hungary would be through the legislative process.

Meanwhile, some of the most fanatical neo-Nazi movements of Europe are organizing their annual “Day of Honor” in Hungary to mark the last stand of the German Nazis and their Hungarian supporters against the Soviet Army at Buda Castle on Feb.11, 1945.

The organizers, including the Hungarian National Front, have neither sought nor received official permission to hold an event this year, but they have reportedly said they assume that the rally would take place as usual at Heroes’ Square in the capital, Budapest.

Default Hungarian Holocaust victims' kin seek reparations

Hungarian Holocaust victims' kin seek reparations

http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chic...parations.html

The heirs and next of kin of Hungarian Holocaust victims are seeking reparations from the Hungarian railroad company.

The complaint describes plaintiffs as "Hungarian Jewish victims of the Hungarian Holocaust or their heirs or next of kin" who are suing defendant Hungarian National Railroad for, among other things, "knowingly providing the trains for delivering 437,000 Jews to their deaths in Auschwitz," and looting plaintiffs' possessions and valuables.

"The defendant knew exactly what it was doing. It was using nearly all of its trains day and night to transport people one-way to Auschwitz. The trains were empty as they rattled along the tracks back to Hungary. Without the trains provided by [defendant], hundreds of thousands of Jews could not have been transported to Auschwitz," the complaint states.

The complaint also states "Even though discussion of money is necessarily crass in the context of the unspeakable evil that was inflicted upon the Holocaust victims, nevertheless the law is powerless to do anything other than to obtain financial restitution."

Prime Minister Viktor Orban told Hungarian television that the US was meddling in its internal affairs, and trying to draw the country into a harmful conflict with Russia, which Hungary will 'stay out of'.

MOSCOW, December 24 (Sputnik) — In a year-end interview for Magyar Television on Tuesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the US is meddling in Central European countries' internal affairs, and attempting to draw Hungary into a harmful conflict with Russia.

"The United States does not simply interfere, but is an active participant in the internal political life of central European countries," Orban told Magyar Television's 'The Evening' program, Hungary's English-language political daily, Politics.hu reported.

"The cards were being redealt worldwide", Orban said about 2014, noting that "we have entered a new era" in international tensions. Orban added that the US has sought to "draw [Hungary] into a conflict that we cannot come out of well," and that it would be in Hungary's interest "to stay out of it."

Orban noted that Hungary's foreign policy position on the tense situation over Ukraine is mostly in line with that of Germany, and that countries need to work together with Russia instead of working against it in order to resolve conflict.

Orban was earlier criticized by US officials for his independent foreign policy position, Arizona Senator John McCain calling him a "neo-fascist dictator". Orban responded to the comments by saying that such remarks were "an attack on national independence." Orban had earlier earned the ire of Brussels and Washington back in August, when he said that the sanctions policy against Russia had 'shot Europe in the foot.'

Responding to the US's placing of six Hungarian officials in his government on a no-entry list to the United States on allegations of corruption, Orban noted that "every thinking man knows that the corruption charges are a cover story." He added that the US desire for political influence is behind the decision. The prime minister noted that the evidence to back up the charges is "somehow never provided," and that the baseless charges were a typical side effect of a secret service play for influence, Politics.hu explained.

Orban noted that the Americans' failed bid to build a nuclear power plant in Hungary was another factor in the straining of relations. He noted that the Hungarian-Russian construction and finance deal to build two new reactors at the Paks nuclear plant has been "painful" for Washington.
