Some appreciate the value of organic quality more than others do.

I made two loaves and froze one. The first loaf was kind of crumbly. When I defrosted the second loaf, I sliced it up when it was still cold and it sliced perfectly, and better suited for the toaster. I didn't notice any difference in taste. But so far the best way I have tried this bread is to use it for the cake part of a strawberry shortcake type dessert. You wouldn't know it was bread.

The problem with refined sugar is not whether it is raw or organic. The problem is that is spikes your blood sugar and has zero nutritional value. White sugar or honey is not needed in bread, a cup of white flour per batch is all the yeast needs. |

Mrs. Gaede, Your recipe,
3 1/2 c. warm water 3 pkgs. of yeast 6 Tablespoons sugar 6 Tablespoons melted butter 4 teaspoons salt 2 eggs, beaten 10 cups flour is very close to mine, cut by 1/3 and omitting the sugar. That makes a good sandwich loaf, good for toast. Oh also I use salad oil instead of butter. I'm starting to think about what I'm missing, butter, sugar, honey!

April, the bread looks really good.
My hubby and I started making our own bread about 5 years ago. It has worked out really well. Though I still have not mastered it well enough to make a loaf of bread that is soft enough and more like the sandwich bread sold in stores. Any tips or advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated! |

What is it I've heard said? The three best things in life.
1. Sugar 2. Flour 3. Grease But I don't believe this for one minute as this is just a heart attack waiting to happen. In my opinion and experience with nutrition they are the three worst things for your health.
