An antisemitic (yay!) Jack & Jill poem
Seven years ago, I wrote this poem:
Moshe and Jude went UP the rood To 𝒌𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒆 the Baron's daughter Moshe went down, was hanged in town And Jude drowned in the water I have received two criticisms regarding it. The first criticism asserted that the poem is antisemitic because it portrays Jews as villains, and, even more egregiously, it suggested that they were punished for their villainy. This criticism, however, has not even the slightest importance. The second criticism has more merit. Someone pointed out that I forced a rhyme by intentionally mispronouncing "road" as "rood." For this, I apologize. I will amend the poem as follows: Moshe and Jude, they were so rude As to 𝒌𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒆 the Baron's daughter Moshe, tracked down, was hanged in town And Jude drowned in the water |
