Green niggers of The Greatest Generation. A recently released book says American G.I.s were really "muh dicking" it up in WWII Allied Occupied France.

Quote:
She tells how, by the summer of 1944, large numbers of women in Normandy filed complaints about rapes by US soldiers.

And their arrival prompted a wave of crime all over France, with American soldiers caught committing robberies and petty thefts.

Professor Roberts said: ‘My book seeks to debunk an old myth about the GI, thought of as a manly creature that always behaved well. The GIs were having sex anywhere and everywhere.

‘In the cities of Le Havre and Cherbourg, bad behaviour was common.

‘Women, including those who were married, were openly solicited for sex. Parks, bombed-out buildings, cemeteries and railway tracks were carnal venues.

‘People could not go out for a walk without seeing somebody having sex.

‘But the sex was not always consensual, with hundreds of cases of rape being reported.’

The locals of Le Havre were shocked by the soldiers’ behaviour and wrote letters of protest to their mayor.

Most young people join the Army for the opportunities: job training, money for college, or even a long-term career in the military.

Doubtless, few of them expect to be pimped out by their superior officers, but that is exactly the type of “opportunity” that has presented itself for a number of young female soldiers based out of Fort Hood, Texas.

A number of female Army privates at Fort Hood military base in Texas were allegedly pressured to prostitute themselves to superior officers, with the senior-most officer being the one in charge of sexual assault prevention for the unit.

The news originated in the court-martial trial of Master Sergeant Brag Grimes, who, after a two day trial, was found guilty of conspiring to patronize a prostitute and solicitation to commit adultery. He will receive a letter of reprimand and remain in the service, although he was demoted to sergeant first class.

Along with Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen, a non-commissioned officer at Fort Hood, Grimes organized a prostitution ring that sought to convince young female recruits into having sex with the pair for money.

One private testified that McQueen was the main force behind the plan and that he made “ abusive sexual contact ” with her during an “ interview ” meant to determine if she could be in the ring, as quoted by the Austin American-Statesman.

McQueen remains on active duty and has not been charged largely because Grimes has refused to testify against him, a situation the New Republic blamed on “ the buddy-buddy refusal to report on a predatory peer .” ( source )

Sadly, this case is not unusual, aside from the fact that money changed hands. There is an epidemic of rape in the US military.

In 2011, Newsweek reported that a woman is more likely to be sexually assaulted by another soldier than she is to be killed in combat. Even worse is the fact that reporting the assault results in retaliation….but not against the rapist. Women who report rapes are victimized even further by the Good Ole Boy network of the military. An overwhelming 62% of women who reported their rapes faced retaliation and put their entire military career at risk. ( source )

What’s worse is that if the crime makes it to an Article 32 hearing, the victim is allowed to be aggressively cross-examined, and in effect, she is put on trial. One US Naval Academy midshipman was on the stand for nearly a week after reporting her rape at the hands of 3 young men from the Academy.

For roughly 30 hours over several days, defense lawyers for three former United States Naval Academy football players grilled a female midshipman about her sexual habits. In a public hearing, they asked the woman, who has accused the three athletes of raping her, whether she wore a bra, how wide she opened her mouth during oral sex and whether she had apologized to another midshipman with whom she had intercourse “for being a ho.” ( source )

The sexual assault problem is only getting worse. The Department of Defense reports that 2012 saw a 50% increase in complaints over previous years.

It appears the military cannot be trusted to dole out justice for these women. Some believe that these cases should be tried in civilian courts.

Numerous lawmakers have proposed solutions to the problem, with perhaps the most far-reaching proposal coming from New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. She has advocated taking the prosecution power from the military chain of command and giving it to civilian attorneys, a plan the military has actively lobbied against.

“ It’s the peers who don’t blow the whistle who are the biggest problem in the whole culture ,” said Lory Manning, a former Navy captain who is now the director of the Women’s Research and Education Institute.

“ When you’re talking about a serial rapist, his friends – and I say he intentionally – generally know what’s going. It’s a huge issue in the military and it’s not much talked about, and nor are the peers held responsible for not informing the command .” ( source )

Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen
McQueen remains on active duty and has not been charged ...

McQueen was working as a sexual abuse educator, but went through the ranks in the Air Defense Artillery and is assigned to the 69th ADA Brigade, according to records.

Investigators believe that McQueen, 37, persuaded a female private first class to become a prostitute who sold sex to other servicemembers, according to a senior defense official and Capitol Hill staffer who have been briefed on the investigation.

[...]

McQueen approached another female private first class, the sources said, and attempted to persuade her to become a prostitute. She refused, and he sexually assaulted her, the sources said. She brought the complaint to military officials.

Exclamation Reported sexual assaults in US military jumped by 50% in 2013

Reported sexual assaults in the US military increased by over 50 percent in 2013, new data reveals. The boost punctuates a year filled with damning disclosures of a culture that has failed to protect the enlisted from systemic levels of sexual violence.

Data obtained by AP shows there were more than 5,000 sexual assault reports during the 2013 fiscal year, which ended on Sept. 30. By contrast, there were 3,374 incidents reported in 2012.

Of the total reports in 2013, around 10 percent involved incidents that happened before the victim was officially in the military - up from 4 percent in 2012. The increase in cases has led military officials to suggest there is more confidence among service members in reporting incidents of sexual assault than in the past.

"Given the multiple data points, we assess that this is more reporting," said Col. Alan R. Metzler, deputy director of the Pentagon's sexual assault prevention and response office, according to AP. Metzler said that more victims are stepping up to make official complaints instead of simply seeking medical care while avoiding formal accusations.

Pentagon officials announced in May that sexual assault incidents have increased by 35 percent between 2010 and 2012, bringing the annual total to 26,000 cases of some type of unwanted sexual contact or sexual assault last year. The results came via an anonymous survey.

The Department of Veteran Affairs also found that 85,000 US veterans received medical treatment for sex abuse trauma last year, which indicates that the effects of assault have far-reaching consequences, both financially and emotionally.

In addition to the daunting numbers of abuse, high-profile assaults and arrests have spurred Congress to address the military justice system that the Pentagon relies on for enlisted members to report incidents. A series of emotional public hearings on the subject were held, in which military brass was castigated for the abusive culture. Service chiefs conceded that they had failed, with one stating that sexual violence was "like a cancer" in the military.

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2014, passed by Congress this month and signed Thursday by President Barack Obama, includes reform measures to the reporting process and increased legal protections for those that come forward. For example, the new protocol strips military commanders of their ability to overturn jury convictions. New rules also demand a civilian review if a commander declines to prosecute a case. Finally, the reforms require that any individual convicted of sexual assault face a dishonorable discharge or immediate dismissal.

Major incidents among military commanders pushed the measure to passage. Yet the legislation notably left out a proposal by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) that stripped the usual chain of command of the ability to legislate assault reports, thereby offering victims and independent route to accuse an offender. Gillibrand’s measure was fiercely opposed by the Pentagon and many in Congress.

In May, Air Force Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski was arrested for drunkenly groping a woman. Krusinski was in charge of sexual abuse prevention, which made the case more disgraceful for the military than most.

Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen, who was responsible for overseeing sexual assault prevention at Ford Hood, came under investigation for sexual assault in May. McQueen is facing allegations including the maltreatment of subordinates and running a prostitution ring.

In addition, Lt. Col. Darin Haas, the manager of Fort Campbell’s sexual harassment prevention office, was fired from his post and arrested on charges of violating an order of protection and stalking his ex-wife.

The new data shows that the increase in reports across all branches of the military range from 45 percent in the Air Force to a high of 86 percent in the Marines. The Navy saw a 46 percent jump in reports, while the largest service, the Army, saw a 50 percent spike.

The Navy’s sexual assault program director, Jill Loftus, said that increased reporting can also suggest that more service members are understanding which behaviors constitute assault or harassment based on successful training programs employed to combat violent behavior.

Loftus countered that the Navy’s surveys are not indicating an increase in incidents, but that more people are comfortable with coming forward. "More likely, we have people who understand what sexual assault is," she said.

Moving forward, military officials told AP that the goal for 2014 is to continue encouraging the reporting of incidents while lowering the total number of assaults and sexual harassment cases. Services have begun to implement new programs aimed at deterring incidents before they happen.

For instance, a Navy pilot program in Illinois is working with local hotels and bars in an attempt to curb alcohol consumption by sailors. In addition, members of the Navy have been told to intervene should they see fellow sailors involved in unacceptable behavior.

Other programs include curbing hours of alcohol sales and employing patrols of service members to watch for troops who may need help or are causing trouble.

Loftus said that some commanders are making their courts-martial more public, using publicized notices of sexual assaults and holding cases on open parade fields so that onlookers can watch.

technically no one has ever been inducted into the military without their consent.
the draft notice carries the power of a summons to appear before the draft board but beyond that no force on Earth can compel an individual to sign on the dotted line. third, fifth, and thirteenth amendments doncha know.

an aside, my old man "volunteered" for the Navy in The Big One. served on a tin can in the N. Atlantic. found that to be preferable to pounding mud in Europe as a "draftee".

My father was halfway through college, and enlisted before his draft number came up. That allowed him to qualify for a pilot-training program. Flying combat in Vietnam, while certainly dangerous in it's own right, was probably preferable to the idea of land mines, chemical defoliants, fragging incidents, and the shitty morale among drafted infantry.

Default Military misconduct on the rise

Quote:
US armed forces misconduct has reached worrying proportions, with drug, alcohol and sexual abuses and expulsions on the rise, documents obtained by the AP reveal.

The past three years seem to have been hardest on Army officers, as they have seen a steep, three-fold increase in departures due to misconduct and internal crimes, according to the documents. A total of 119 Army officers were forced to leave due to misconduct in 2010, which closely matched the average since 2000, but the figure more than tripled in 2013 to 387. For enlisted soldiers, the number jumped from 5,600 in 2007 to upward of 11,000 in 2013.

This may be in part due to the Army's rapid expansion in the last decade, owing to a soaring demand for soldiers in places such as Afghanistan and Iraq. This may have led to a relaxing of standards for the purpose of retaining soldiers in ranks that needed to stay filled. Yeah, let every lowlife scum, criminal, faggot and retard join to keep Uncle Hymie's wars going.

My Dad and one of my uncles avoided the Korean War draft by volunteering for the Army first. After training, another relative who was a Brigadier-General made sure that they were both sent to Germany for the duration of their service.

It certainly helps to have relatives like that. Similar situations happened during the Vietnam War where guys would join the National Guard or volunteer for the Air Force or Navy before their draft number came up so they could avoid ending up as an Army or Marine grunt slogging through a rice paddy or the jungle. Or the lucky ones were able to at least, since a lot of other guys had the same idea and NG, USAF, USN and Coast Guard personnel requirements probably were maxed out within the first couple of years of the main US involvement, say by 1966 or '67. Perhaps all the smart ones went to Canada or Sweden.

Default Back then, the National Guard was not yet an International Guard, until a former National Guardist changed that:

Dan Quayle, George H.W. Bush's Vice President, was in the Indiana National Guard from 1969 to 1975. This was an issue for him during the 1988 campaign when his critics accused him of guarding the Indy 500 from an attack by the Viet Cong.

Quayle also made a number of idiotic quotes as Vice President and after, nearly equaling in stupidity those of George W. Bush.
