Default Wrecks of two Japanese aircraft carriers sunk in Battle of Midway found

Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carriers Kaga and Akagi, sunk by U.S. forces on June 4, 1942 during the Battle of Midway have been found 18,000 feet under the Pacific Ocean by the research vessel Petrel.

Two other carriers, Soryu and Hiryu, have yet to be located.

The one American carrier sunk during the battle, U.S.S. Yorktown, was discovered in 1998 by Titanic finder Robert Ballard.
