Question Magnolia (1999)

Magnolia (1999) Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

Just watched it again. Gotta be my favorite movie ever. Definitely top two or three. Absolutely brilliant. Powerful, original, creatively unconventional. Real, palpable characters, all torn and miserable and lonely and desperate and hopeful in different ways. It's 3 hours and 8 minutes long and after completing what's gotta be my 9th or 10th time seeing it, I've gotta say there isn't a wasted frame, line or note. It's beautiful.

I wonder what do other VNNers who've seen it think about it?

Some guy on IMDB said this about it, and I agree:
Summary: The sins of the father... That is what this film is about and "Strange things happen all the time" are the best ways I can think of to describe the overall plot of the film. The story of a dozen people, on one incredible day, in one very wet valley, on Magnolia Avenue.

I could list reason, after reason, after reason why this is one of the finest films I've ever seen... I really could. From the fact that every cast member gives an oscar-worthy performance, to the fact that this film has upwards of 10 amazing sequences I have never seen before, and probably will never see again, in any film.

This film gets my highest recommendation and a definite 10. I say see it right now, and see it as many times as possible.

I stopped watching it right after that negro started catching Cruise in a bunch of lies and making him look like an idiot. I thought to myself, " I see where this is going." Maybe I should force myself to watch it in its entirety. Please tell me I only have to hear "tame the cunt" a few times please.

Thumbs up Metzger is a Magnolia fan

Terrible Tommy dug Magnolia.

Here from his 12-07-03 Aryan Update:

greetings,
I recently watched the Lord of the Rings - the Two Towers - and managed to catch the words of King Theoden (interesting name). When he was in despair about how "our days have gone down in the west" and "how did it come to this ? ", reminded me of the situation of the white race. And when Aragorn told him he needed to send for help, Theoden said "And Who will come ?, the old alliances are dead." This reminds me of the current situation in the "movement" here. And finally, Legolas the Elf complained that his soldiers had either seen too many winters or too few , Theoden replied "What would you have me do ?, our peoples courage hangs by a thread". "If this is to be our end, then let it be and end that is worthy of remembrance !" right before going to war..... sounds like something Bob Matthews may have said. Excellent similarities in this one.
TT says:
I borrow this statement. "We may be through with the past but the past is not through with us!" from the Film MAGNOLIA. Long film but "HEAVY"

I totally hate this movie and would rather die than have to sit though all the whining, whimpering and blubbering throughout it. I hated his earlier movie too - the one about the porn industry in the 80s - the guy with the super big dick - what's the name of the movie?
