Interesting that this book only came out in 2007 its premise was that Truman okayed secret missions into china/north korea and Russia to ascertain if Russia had the nuclear bomb and was willing to use it against American forces. There is no evidence of this taking place but take it for what its worth, there were many books after Vietnam too written by former military guys like this one that said they were in secret missions not only into laos and Cambodia but into north Vietnam and even china itself. Again these guys and their books there was no proof of it ever happening so take it as is.

Even if the russkies had a few nukes they would have been very low yield stuff acceptable loses even if they could get their big bombers far enough to hit the west coast without American forces on their tale. Of course Macarthur wanted to nuke china back into the earth which again acceptable losses these nukes were low scale things and if it would have been done china probably only now would be approaching 1950s level of tech instead of the economic gaint it is now. It seems very hard to find any information regarding macarthurs plans to invade china or his nuclear attack plans, researching Curtis Le May his buddy doesn't turn up much results for this time period either. I want to find clear comprehensive plans for his strategy but it seems very hard to find for some reason.

Chinese will never admit but they put 3 million men into the conflict allied forces inflicted over a million casualties against them. But just goes to show they were willing to send in their forces to enforce their will. I also heard a lot of soldiers they used were either Japanese collaborators or soldiers that fought against the communist side in their civil war so at least a chunk of them were considered cannon fodder to get rid of anti communist elements.

But I don't hear of many Chinese forces surrendering to the allied side? perhaps even if they did they didn't want their families to be killed for it. Perhaps washing away the stain of fighting against the ruling commie system? didn't work out for them sadly as im sure many of them died in the great leap forward.

Probably The only 'secret missions' were by inside Washington communists which compromised our intelligence re: the massive Chinese counterattack. jmo

If the KWA took the side of the Deutsche's Reich in World War Jew there wouldn't be a North Korea today.

Default MacArthur's boss was a communist and it wasn't Harry Truman

MacArthur actually tried to win the Korean War by planning the Incheon landing in utmost secrecy from his other enemy besides North Korea--the United Nations. As UN military commander, US general MacArthur's superior, the Under-Secretary of the Security Council of the United Nations was a Soviet general, Konstantin E. Zinchenko, who held the post from 1949 to 1953. All through the Cold War, into Vietnam, until the fall of the Soviet Union, this position was always occupied by a Soviet general. So MacArthur had to inform the Russians about details of any military operation he was planning. In turn, the North Korean and Chinese communists were informed of it. No wonder Harry "Solomon" Truman fired him.

Yes the power's that be did not like the thought of a American general with huge popularity running his own show, a revolt of the praetorian guard so to speak. Patton wised up to the real intent behind the war he mentioned a move to eventually enter politics and run for president, they ended his career short. Macarthur also wised up to the commie/jew problem and also planned to run for president after the Korean war was successfully concluded. There is no way they could have risked a Patton/Macarthur ticket running back at home so they eliminated the threat. Kept mac in japan and then ruined his career in korea and made it out to be like it was his fault.

Oh how the president and members of congress shook at the thought of mac coming back and arresting them all, the president was so intimidated and fearful he ordered his personal guard to load live ammunition and forced all soldiers on wake island to de arm themselves and put their ammo in storage for fear macarthur would take him.

In addition to US and other Allied aircraft shot down by North Korea and China or by Soviet pilots flying in North Korean-marked fighter planes in combat during the Korean War, a number of them were downed by Soviet fighters and air defense units during this time, with US aircrew members killed or captured. The fate of many of them is still unknown today as they were either killed or captured and remained in the USSR, presumably for their military and technical knowledge and information.

really interesting documentary, some tidbits from 9:40 to 11:02 I was shocked to learn even before Germany was defeated amercan and soviets were already fighting a low level war against each other. The documentary explains American pow history going back all the way even to the expedition against the communists in Russia and the reds holding out prisoners to make us accept them as a nation on the international stage.

Honestly watching the documentary afterwards made me so sick at our government more it really brings home to mind the War is a Racket! book and aint that the truth. In ww1, ww2, korea, vietnam we lost thousands of men to pow issues and we never even fought hard to get them back to this day there could still be prisoners in Vietnam although the men would be older men by now.

https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Call-P.../dp/0425276058

Book came out only in 2016 about secret operations americans undertook to take American and allied soldiers out of soviet hands. Its unbelievable to think thousands upon thousands of allied soldiers were kept under soviet lock and key and these were our supposed allies in ww2? with friends like that who needs enemies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_H._Noble

An American who wrote of his experiences his book I was a slave in Russia is a interesting read. American civilians who did nothing wrong put in soviet gulags
Still through all this our own government should have been on top of this and instead of saying oh these men were killed in action like a cowards cop out they should have demanded right then and there hand over our men or face attack, the only thing the commies understand.

Americans had better cold-weather gear in Korea than the commies, right? Well, yes and no. Starting in 1951 US troops were issued improved versions of winter clothing than was used in WW2, such as the "Mickey Mouse" boots, M51 olive-drab field jacket or parka, gloves, mittens, etc., many of which remained in use into the 1980s when Gore-Tex, polar fleece and other newer materials and garments were introduced. Chinese and North Koreans wore cotton-quilted uniforms and ushanka hats similar to what the Soviet army wore in WW2, and in many cases were actual Soviet-manufacture items. The video below makes fun of it, but they were good warm and functional cold-weather dress even though they were more simple-looking compared to what Americans wore.

Basic Korean War infantry equipment. Relatively unchanged from WW2, as were personal weapons such as the M1 Garand rifle, M1/M2 Carbine, M1911A1 .45 pistol, M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle, M3 'Grease Gun' or M1 Thompson sub-machinegun, 'pineapple' grenades, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCR-300

I think this was the major portable radio field operations equipment used during the war? I am trying to narrow down portable radio equipment used in the war and also any and all operations big and small related to radio intelligence and their use in campaigns. Portable radios is one thing but I also am interested in any info about large scale radio headquarters or their use and function and results. Sort of a personal reason why im interested in but any info would be appreciated, wish I could find more info some of this stuff is pretty scarce it isn't like ww2 with all its huge glossing over of every single unit equipment and detail. This thread is really turning into something!

Default Chinese version of 'Pork Chop Hill?'

Not as funny as the "Clarka! Clarka!" MiG Alley film, features heroic PLA radio operator who sacrifices himself against the Yankee imperialists.

Default 6 turning, 4 burning

Scene from the 1955 film Strategic Air Command with James Stewart and Harry Morgan, who played Col. Potter on M*A*S*H*. Although the B-36 was not used in combat during the Korean War, it was in service with the USAF from 1948 to 1958 when it was replaced by all-jet bombers such as the B-47, B-52 and B-58.
