Post Vestoppland, Norway: Women warned not to go out at night alone after town hit by 'migrant sex attacks'

Bjørn Slåtsveen, forensics section leader of Vestoppland police, said: "Each time two or more boys have been involved in the incidents. All of them are young and of foreign origin.

"They are crossing the line and what they are doing is punishable."

He said: "It would be good to walk with someone when you can, at least for girls in the evening."

Mr Slåtsveen added: "This is starting to become a tendency and a problem, and it is a big problem for the girls who are exposed to it.

Several politicians have blasted the attackers for a lack of "common decency" but said police need to increase the use of force to stop the sexual harassment.

He said: "It's not the girls who should be careful and change their habits. It's these men who need to learn common decency.

"This highlights the need for people who are in reception centres to get an immediate introduction to our values, laws and the consequences [of such behaviour]."

Another Conservative MP added: "Foreigners coming to Norway should adhere to Norwegian norms and manners. As a society we must have a zero tolerance policy [for this behaviour]."
