Default Dwarf planet 'The Goblin' discovery redefining solar system

Dwarf planet 'The Goblin' discovery redefining solar system

Massively elongated orbit suggests object is influenced by theoretical giant Planet Nine in Oort Cloud region

An extremely distant dwarf planet, named The Goblin, has been discovered in observations that are redefining the outer reaches of the solar system.

Astronomers made the discovery while hunting for a hypothetical massive planet, known as Planet Nine, that is suspected to be in orbit far beyond Pluto in a mysterious region known as the Oort Cloud. Planet Nine has not yet been seen directly, but The Goblin appears to be under the gravitational influence of a giant unseen object, adding to astronomers’ certainty that it is out there.

Cool . .and then there were 10

Our solar system ain't probed out yet. .

That's for sure . .

What I never understood though is why only 8 planets are counted ( from Mercury to Neptune . .)

Why don't they count Pluto ?

It also is a part . . . .

Or do they not count it because it dissents from the other planets ?

Either way , counting Pluto now there are 10
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...System_objects

What I always found peculiar though is that the planets of our solar system are named after antique deities . .

Greco/Roman ones . .

I think the late people of antiquity are turning in their graves. .

. . witnessing the names of their pagan gods being used . .

Pluto was designated a "dwarf planet" by the International Astronomical Union in 2006 because similar bodies had been discovered in the Kuiper Belt, such as Eris and Sedna. Some astronomers object to this and want Pluto to once again be the ninth planet. The hypothetical "Planet Nine" lurking in the Solar System's outer reaches would then be called "Planet X" like Pluto was prior to its discovery in 1930. "X" for unknown, is also the Roman numeral 10, so it would fit for a tenth planet.

Default Keeping up with the Cardassians

The Reptilians look a lot like the Cardassians. David Icke needs to look into this.

Gul Dukat for President in 2376.

Separated at birth maybe?

Oh , and was it a coincidence that you came up with the date 2376?

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/2376

As a non-Trekkie I'm having difficulties coverting earthen time to star dates , you know . . .

No, by 2375 Cardassia had been devastated by the Dominion War, so Dukat would have made a good 24th century Donald Trump.

No offense Ray , but I'm not too keen on Star Trek ( TBH it sucks to all the time have to go to wikipedia when faced with Star Trek 'insider language' . . )

Take me as a layman on this issue .

Beam me up , Scotty, now.

I did what I could here . .

Oh well, I have the same difficulty when it comes to Star Wars. I try not to debate too much about fictional stuff from either the Star Trek or Star Wars universe like some geeks and fanboys do.

For that fact , I must say , you did involve yourself pretty eagerly though in for example that Star Wars thread I set up.

https://vnnforum.com/showthread.php?t=550517

No offense ,just saying.

On a side note, you can learn pretty much all you need to know about Star Wars visiting Wookieepedia . .

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Seriously , check out the site . . . It's like a Star Wars dictionary.

Just for the sake of mentioning ( which has nothing to do with this thread ) , there even used to be a search site for female celebrities called 'chickipedia' . .

Star Wars fans and 'Trekkies' are famous for involving themselves in epic battles ( especially on internet forums ) . . . .

In fact it is one of the strongest hostilities I have noticed.

They are still fighting over the galaxy I suppose . . .

Or get Chewbacca to register here . . .

I'm sure he could tell you a lot about Star Wars.

But then , I think he might have trouble operating a laptop . . .

My guess would be that he would already answer the random question "What does the V in VNN stand for?" ( which pops up when you use the search function in a non-logged-in manner . . ) wrongly .

Maybe he'd answer 'vinegar'.

Must say that after I recently had a smoke on the balcony of our flat I happened to gaze into the night sky ( it's about 10:30 PM where I live ) , yet I could locate 'The Goblin' nowhere . . . .

J / k of course . .

I suppose the only 'goblin' I will probably see tonight will be this one.

. .during my 'good night juice' ( did some shopping for Irish beer today )

Well , maybe the above is more like a Leprechaun than really a 'goblin'. . .

Difference.

Anyway , just thought of something associated with Ireland . .

So . . excuse me as I'm off to the Irish Pub now.

In my part of town that is , of course
