Default Fake Hitler Quotes in a US Army Training Film

http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?swf...rld%20War%20II

If that isn't working then look here:
http://national-socialist-worldview....ropaganda.html

Why We Fight is a seven-part series of short films that was directed by Frank Capra for the U.S. Army Special Service Division in 1943. You may have seen parts of this series on some unaffiliated UHF television station that had time to fill following an afternoon movie, or maybe even on a PBS station. I am presenting this clip as an example of the brazen lying that was perpetrated by the Allies during World War II, which goes largely unchecked to this day, and also to arm you so that you may help to set people straight.

The purport of this film is that anti-war activists in the United States are serving an agenda of global conquest on the part of Adolf Hitler that includes conquest of the United States. The film takes considerable liberties to advance this thesis. Some of these liberties become glaringly obvious with just a little skepticism. For example, a narrator claims to know that global conquest was "the dream in Hitler's mind as he stood at Nuremberg" in 1934.

I find that discussions about Hitler's intentions usually come down to the interpretation of some statement attributed to him. Some of the provocative statements attributed to Hitler are things that he actually said, but many are either distortions or outright inventions. In this clip we get two alleged Hitler quotes that are demonstrably very bogus -- in fact they are outright inventions compounded with subsequent distortion -- yet they have been influential and are widely repeated, even by some people who seem to regard themselves as pro-Hitler.

First there is this:

"My motto is: Destroy by all and any means. National-Socialism will reshape the world."

Hermann Rauschning's The Voice of Destruction, later republished as Conversations with Hitler, seems to be the source for the first half of this quote. (Rauschning is not considered a trustworthy source. If you find that the source for a quote attributed to Hitler is Rauschning, that already invalidates it, but what we get in Capra's film is even worse than that.) We find a passage containing something almost identical with that sentence at the bottom of page 11. The underlined words are those that appeared in the film.

"To me all means will be right. My motto is not: 'Don't, whatever you do, annoy the enemy!' My motto is: 'Destroy him by all and any means.' I am the one who will wage the war!"

The two sentences lumped together as a Hitler quote in the film do not appear together in this, the original passage. No indication of an ellipse (such as "...") is given in the film to indicate that the two sentences did not appear together in the original source.

A Google search for the second clause of the alleged Hitler quote, "National-Socialism will reshape the world," does not turn up any citation of a primary source. I would wager that this too is derived from Rauschning, but it is not on the same page as the model for the first sentence.

The film distorts the meaning at least of the former of the two sentences. When the film omits the word "him" from the sentence as it appears in Rauschning, then places a statement about National-Socialist designs on the world after that, it thereby fabricates and places in Hitler's mouth a nihilistic declaration of war against the entire world, rather than a mere statement of intention to be ruthless in a war against some hypothetical enemy, which is all that it seems to be in Rauschning.

There is a second alleged Hitler quote at 4:32 in the video:

"Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. That is the war of the future."

This alleged quote is all over the internet but in no instance that I have seen is a source cited.

After much searching I discovered that this too comes from Hermann Rauschning, who has been the same kind of one-stop source for outrageous claims about Hitler that the Iraqi National Congress was regarding Saddam Hussein. Here is the original fake quote from Rauschning, also from The Voice of Destruction:

"When the enemy is demoralized from within, when he stands on the brink of revolution, when social unrest threatens—that is the right moment. A single blow must destroy him. Aerial attacks, stupendous in their mass effect, surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination from within, the murder of leading men, overwhelming attacks on all weak points in the enemy's defense, sudden attacks, all in the same second, without regard for reserves or losses: that is the war of the future."

I have underlined the words that were cobbled together to create the fake Hitler quote for the film. As you can see, the film-maker added a layer of misrepresentation to this fake quote just as to the other one. Nowhere in the passage do you see the concatenation, ""Demoralize the enemy from within by ..." The perfect passive participle "demoralized" appears, but the imperative "Demoralize" does not. What we get in the film is really a distorted paraphrase of this already fake quote.

Even if the Hollywood screenwriter of Why We Fight didn't know that Rauschning was a fraudulent source, he at least knew that the way he was using Rauschning was dishonest.

* * * * * * *

I found this excellent article from Mark Weber about Hermann Rauschning's lack of credibility. This is worth reading, because Rauschning is very widely employed as an anti-Hitler source.

Good post. That's all I wanted to say, but that's too short so I will add....
The only movie of his I have watched from beginning to end is "Arsenic and Old Lace" and I would condemn that movie on many, many grounds. If the old ladies in the movie were Jews, it would make more sense.

Capra was Sicilian. (Arsenic and Old Lace is based on a play by Joseph Kesselring, allegedly German-American but born in New York City.) If you read some of the news reports from 100 years ago, "Italian" immigrants were sometimes mentioned in addition to Jews as "anarchists" (which seems to have been the most popular expression of Marxism prior to the Bolshevik Revolution). Capra was apparently a scion of that marxist "Italian" influx.

The FBI saw Communist themes in Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, which supposedly is modeled on a Soviet film made 15 years earlier. He also attracted the attention of the House Un-American Activities Committee.

The proposition that the film may have been modeled on a Soviet film is in my opinion more damning than the specific details that the FBI regarded as Communistic, e.g. the favorable portrayal of small versus big bankers.

The FBI seemed to be working with a model of "Americanism" that was a bit stilted. If they'd really had their eyes open they would have seen that Why We Fight was probably the most powerful (indirectly) pro-Soviet propaganda ever to come out of Hollywood. How unreasonable to generate paranoia about Germany getting control of the world's geopolitical "heartland" (eastern Europe and western Asia) while overlooking the nature of the power struggling to retain control of that heartland. Why We Fight is a masterpiece of pro-Soviet misdirection.

Capra ended up losing his independent film company, Liberty Films, to Jewish Paramount after It's a Wonderful Life did poorly at the box office, which could very well be a result of how Jews in the press treated the film.

Default Another Lie in "Why We Fight"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LbVe...layer_embedded

In addition to fabricating and falsely attributing statements to Adolf Hitler, Frank Capra's Why We Fight also misrepresents documentary film footage. This video demonstrates that Capra edited footage of an execution of Communists by Nationalist Chinese troops to misrepresent it as an execution of civilians by Japanese troops. The evidence for this is given beginning at 5:36 in the video.

I do not mean to suggest that the Japanese were not cruel; the Japanese and the Chinese alike (although Capra portrays the Chinese as passive and thoroughly gentle) could be very cruel to prisoners. But the fact is that certain scenes in Frank Capra's Why We Fight are not what they are said to be.

Default Jew Peddles Fake Hitler Quote to Taki's Mag

Today on Youtube I saw a video with the fetching title "Hitler the Philosopher." It consisted of a series of statements attributed to Adolf Hitler, but with no sources given. Some of the alleged quotes struck me as highly questionable, like this one:

"Life is will to power and satisfaction is in eternal self-overcoming."

Anybody that has read Nietzsche will recognize that terminology and that idea. If Hitler ever quoted or paraphrased Nietzsche, he was very unlikely to do it in public, because the vast majority of Hitler's supporters were very Christian, while Nietzsche of course was notoriously hostile to Christianity.

I checked the English-language edition of Hitler's Table Talk to see if perhaps he had said some such thing in private. Out of a dozen or so statements about "life" in Hitler's Table Talk, not one characterizes life as "will to power." To be safe I checked Mein Kampf as well, since Hitler did say some things at that time, when the movement was still small, that he would not have said later. It turns out that the expression will to power appears nowhere in Mein Kampf.

I do not know where that statement was originally attributed to Hitler, but it is clearly part of an attempt to portray Hitler as a Nietzschean, which is to say, an anti-Christian. Allied propaganda in both World Wars portrayed the Germans as Godless Nietzscheans, which they generally were not.

In the imagination of an uneducated Christian, it is a given that anybody who rejects Christianity will incline to do all the things that Christianity prohibits. After the allegation of Godlessness, the allegation of tossing babies onto bayonets or Jews into ovens becomes almost self-evident. That is why the accusation of Godlessness was fundamental in the propaganda of both World Wars.

The improbable Hitler quote appears not only in that video; it also appears in Abir Taha's Nietzsche,Prophet of Nazism: The Cult of the Superman -- again, of course, with no source cited.

There was another alleged Hitler quote with anti-Christian purport:

“The old beliefs will be brought back to honor again. The whole secret knowledge of nature, of the divine, the demonic. We will wash off the Christian veneer and bring out a religion peculiar to our race.”

I found the exact same quote in Taki's Magazine of 29 August 2007, in an article titled "Hitler and the New Nazi Religion." It turns out that this article was an excerpt from a book, Salvation is From the Jews, written by a "converted" Jew, Roy Schoeman.

Schoeman cites sources for that quote, but what sources! They are: "Nazis: The Occult Conspiracy, Discovery Channel; also Joseph Carr The Twisted Cross, p. 203." I find it quite shoddy when an author making a controversial point relies on secondary sources, let alone sensationalist trash like The Twisted Cross, and a TV show!

Are Taki's readers so low-brow that they find this acceptable?

And aren't Jews supposed to be intelligent? Or maybe this kind of shoddiness is simply Schoeman's way of showing contempt for his stupid Christian readers.

It turns out that the original source for the quote is one of Hermann Rauschning's fictitious conversations with Hitler. However, like two other fake Hitler quotes that I discussed in an earlier post, this "quote" has an additional layer of misrepresentation in that it is cobbled together from various sentences in Rauschning. Here is the context in which the elements of the fake quote are found, on and around page 55 of Rauschning's The Voice of Destruction.

"You see," Hitler returned triumphantly; "that is what I'm building on. Our peasants have not forgotten their true religion. It still lives. It is merely covered over. The Christian mythology has simply coated it like a layer of tallow. It has preserved the true contents of the pot. I have said this to Dane, and told him that we must start the great reformation. He has suggested means to me, magnificent means! I have approved them. The old beliefs will be brought back to honor again. In our 'Green Week' and in the 'Traveling Agricultural Exhibition' he will allude to our inherited religion in picturesque and expressive language that even the simplest peasant can understand.

"It will not be done in the old way, running riot in colorful costumes and dreaming of a departed, romantic age. The peasant will be told what the Church has destroyed for him: the whole of the secret knowledge of nature, of the divine, the shapeless, the daemonic. The peasant shall learn to hate the Church on that basis. Gradually he will be taught by what wiles the soul of the German has been raped. We shall wash off the Christian veneer and bring out a religion peculiar to our race. And this is where we must begin. Not in the great cities, Goebbels! There we shall only lose ourselves in the stupid godlessness propaganda of the Marxists: free sex in nature and that sort of bad taste. The urban masses are empty. Where all is extinguished, nothing can be aroused. But our peasantry still lives in heathen beliefs and values."

Again, I remind you, Rauschning's "conversations with Hitler" are fake. Beware of accepting statements attributed to Hitler -- even if it is a statement that appeals to you -- without knowing the original source and whether it is credible. Otherwise you could end up having egg all over your face like Taki's Magazine.
