Vaccine Passport Coming Soon to Massachusetts, Other States

Gov. Charlie Baker said Massachusetts has been working with a group of states to create a digital vaccine passport program.

Massachusetts is considering a digital vaccine passport program for residents, the governor told a local news outlet, putting the state at the forefront of a national debate on whether proof of vaccination should be required to take part in many basic social activities.

“It's a universal standard and we've been working with a bunch of other states – there's probably 15 or 20 of them – to try to create a single QR code that can be used for all sorts of things where people may choose to require a vaccine,” Gov. Charlie Baker told GBH News’ Boston Public Radio on Monday.

Baker, a Republican, said Massachusetts and other states have been working on a program where a QR code would be scanned to verify a person's vaccination status. Baker displayed his personal QR code to the show’s hosts, verifying his vaccination status, and said the program would be available “soon.” He did not say which other states were cooperating on the project.

Vaccine passports have been a hot button issue since even before vaccines became widely available earlier this year. And while some states and local jurisdictions have embraced them, others have taken action to prevent vaccination from being a requirement to access certain goods and services.

At least a dozen states have banned vaccine passports altogether, while some states have already begun leaning on digital credentials for access to certain areas and activities. New York has been among the leaders in vaccination requirements, instituting its Excelsior Pass earlier this year for admittance into some indoor events.

I'm not seeing too much wrong with what's being posted generally. Conditions in different Australia cities are quite different from each other - each state handled the situation quite differently.

New York to mandate Covid vaccines for all private sector workers

New York (CNN Business) All private sector employers in New York City will now be required to implement a Covid-19 vaccine mandate by December 27, the city's mayor Bill De Blasio announced Monday.

This new move, which De Blasio announced Monday on MSNBC, means everyone who works in the city will now be subject to a vaccine mandate.

"The more universal they are, the more likely employees will say okay, it's time. I'm going to do this. Because you can't jump from one industry to another or one company to another. It's something that needs to be universal to protect all of us," De Blasio said.

At a press conference later on Monday, De Blasio said the vaccine mandate is the best way to avoid a return to a shutdown of businesses and other public events that other countries have ordered as Covid cases continue to rise.

"We need to take very bold action. We're seeing restrictions starting to come back. We're seeing shutdowns," he said. "We can not let those restrictions come back. We can not have shutdowns in New York."

Children, ages 5 - 11 in New York will now also be required to show proof of at least one shot before being allowed access to indoor dining, fitness or entertainment, the mayor announced.

Adults will now be required to show proof of two vaccinations for those areas.

New Brunswick Grocery Stores Given Power to Ban the Unvaccinated

Grocery stores in New Brunswick, Canada have been given the power to ban unvaccinated people from entering, meaning the unjabbed could be prevented from conducting the essential activity of buying food.

Yes, really.

The province’s health minister Dorothy Shephard said businesses will be given the option to either enforce physical distancing or check for proof-of-vaccination.

Those businesses include “malls and grocery stores.”

Shephard said the measure, part of the region’s three-level action plan to curb the spread of COVID-19 during the winter, is necessary to reverse a “very concerning” rise in cases.

“According to a guide by Public Safety Canada, food is among the ten critical infrastructure sectors, and its delivery and preparation is considered an Essential Service and Function,” writes Ken Macon.

“Provinces have been allowed to implement their own restrictions, but grocery stores have remained open to all, regardless of vaccination status.”

The measure appears to be a fundamental violation of human rights and now must surely be challenged in the courts.

This is yet another example of how, while authorities claim the vaccine isn’t mandatory, every basic existence and lifestyle function are being removed for those who don’t take the shot.

The federal government has already banned unvaxxed Canadians from using domestic or international air and rail travel.

If this is allowed to pass, expect the next stage to be fitting unvaccinated people with electronic ankle bracelets to ensure they don’t leave their homes, or failing that just throwing them in prison.

There really is no depth to which this abyss cannot sink.
