Report: Swedish neo-Nazis more violent

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A member of the Swedish Security Service says the country's three largest neo-Nazi organizations have become more likely to use violence.

Johan Olson told The Local the parties also appear to be better armed. He said the groups have not become more active but the nature of their activities has changed.

"This is a result of disagreements within the white power movement," he said. "There has therefore been a need to raise their respective profiles."

The magazine Expo surveyed the activities of the National Socialist Front, the Swedish Resistance Movement and Info-14. During 2007, the three groups were active in 19 of the country's 21 provinces -- with Stockholm, the Gothenburg area on the west coast and the southern province of Skane seeing the most activity.

One SMR member was convicted of attempted manslaughter in Stockholm.

Expo said more than 60 percent of the groups' visible work was propaganda, with vandalism accounting for about 30 percent. Other activities included open meetings and concerts and public demonstrations.

Sweden’s Neo-Nazis are becoming more brutal.

As the anti-racist magazine Expo reports, Neo-Nazi activities have indeed not increased significantly, but the actions carried out are by far more violent than previously. Main targets are left-wing groups.

The report also points out that racist organizations in this country utilize more weapons in order to strengthen their stand within the so called white-power-movement.

Expo’s report shows that more than 1,100 Neo-Nazi activities have been registered in the previous year with the majority carried out in the regions of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Skåne in the south.

Sweden rally against Kosovo's independence

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Hundreds of protesters Saturday gathered in Sweden's three largest cities in peaceful rallies urging the Nordic country not to recognize Kosovo's independence.

Demonstrations, staged by The Serbian Youth Organization in Sweden, began in central city squares in Stockholm, Malmo and Goteborg at 12:44 p.m. (1144 GMT), symbolizing U.N. Resolution 1244 which in 1999 formally recognized Serbia's sovereignty while simultaneously placing Kosovo under a U.N. interim administration backed up by NATO-led forces.

Police and organizers said around 600 demonstrators, mainly of Serb origin and backed up by many Swedish, Greek and Cypriot sympathizers, had rallied in the capital, while another 600 braved the cold and rain in Goteborg and 500 more in Malmo.

Sweden has not yet formally recognized Kosovo, but has said it will join the growing number of states to do so after a parliamentary committee meeting next week.

Serbia considers Kosovo its sacred heartland and has rejected Kosovo's declaration of independence.

Demonstrators carried Serb and Swedish flags as well as banners calling for the rescue of the U.N. and saying that Kosovo belongs to Serbia.

Jeremija Isakovic, a 32-year-old second-generation Serb living in Sweden, said "Kosovo is the cultural and historic cradle for Serbia."

"The way things are right now, one side has won everything, while the other has been totally degraded," he said. "There has to be a solution that both parties can sign."

During the Stockholm demonstration, police said they stopped and frisked around 20 members of the Swedish Resistance Movement, an organization linked to some neo-Nazi acts, who were on their way to the rally.

Police spokeswoman Ann-Charlotte Wejnas said they were equipped with cobblestones, bottles and golf clubs and were "making trouble."

One of them was arrested for assault, while another was arrested for resistance.

Wejnas added that police had also been forced to remove around 20 demonstrators from the heart of the city after the rally had ended because they had hurled fireworks at cars.

From Bosnia to Syria: Provoking NATO Interventions with False Flags

From August 9th to 11th a conference entitled “Nordic Peace Talks” was held in the Swedish city of Degerfors. The event was attended by several organizations and peace activists from Sweden, Norway and Denmark. One of the attending organizations was Justitia Pax Veritas, a non profit organization headquartered in Stockholm, dealing with issues related to the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.

During the three-day conference there were a number of lectures related to, among other things, the creeping possibility of a Swedish NATO membership, the current propaganda about the war in Syria, the legitimization of US and NATO military interventions by the doctrine of R2P (Responsibility to Protect).

At the meeting of Nordic peace activists one of the speakers was professor Ola Tunander from Peace Research Institute Oslo. During the lecture “After Libya – Syria and the permanent members of the UN Security Council”, Tunander compared the propaganda in Libya and Syria to that of the war in the former Yugoslav republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Norwegian professor with close ties to NATO spoke about the shelling of Sarajevo Markale market, for which the Bosnian Serbs were blamed and the Bosnian Serb general Stanislav Galic convicted by the Hague tribunal. The professor told of multiple sources – a representative of the Crisis Staff of NATO, the Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO Vigleik Eide and subsequent Norwegian ministers of defense and foreign affairs – who had announced the conclusion of a NATO investigation according to which “the Bosnian side”, as he called forces under the control of Alija Izetbegovic, were responsible for the incident.

“They all said that NATO’s conclusion was that it was a Bosnian attack on their own population. But this was never announced publicly. And it looks like it is common, e.g., before decisions of the United Nations, to perform so-called ”false flag operations”, i.e. fraud attacks against the own population, in order to legitimize military interventions, said Tunander.

The “Nordic Peace Talks” were held for the first time last year, also in Degerfors. This year’s conference ended with the announcement of a demonstration in Stockholm on September 4th under the banner of ”No to Big Brother Obama”, on the occasion of the forthcoming visit of the U.S. President to Sweden.

Extortion is becoming increasingly common in Swedish society. In 2003, the police recieved 740 reports - in 2013, the number was 5,300, according to statistics from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå).

"We can see both a rising inclination to report the crime and to use extortion," Johanna Skinnari at Brå, tells Swedish Radio. "For instance, there are instances of extortion among youths, something that maybe wasn't as common ten years ago. So there is a new extortion phenomenon."

And the increasingly younger perpetrators are starting to show up in statistics. In the beginning of the 2000s, the number of people under 18 years of age suspected of extortion was about 25 a year. Over the last couple of years, it has been around 100 a year. Often, the "debt" in question is related to real or perceived offences, according to Skinnari. "So they put a pricetag to the percieved insult and demand payment," she says.

Liam in Sundsvall was extorted by a peer. "He wanted 5,000 kronor that same night and said that if I didn't get him the money, he would shoot me and my family," he says.

Fifteen-year-old Kristian says the extortion in school has affected his whole life. "At school I had to stay in all the time. I didn't go to lunch with the others, because I didn't trust them. I had to change my routines, i didn't take the bus because I was scared he would get on it. He must have thought I was easy prey," Kristian tells Swedish Radio.
