Talking nigger Portland commissioner blames whitey for da riots

Quote:
Commissioner-Elect Mingus Mapps Blisters Portland Protesters, Referring to Some as “the White Mob”

His remarks were significant in part because they signaled a new dynamic in City Hall.

In one of his first public appearances since his election to the Portland City Council on Tuesday, Commissioner-elect Mingus Mapps denounced leftist protesters who vandalized the home of Commissioner Dan Ryan on Thursday night in retribution for his vote to preserve the police budget.

"This campaign of intimidation and vandalism against Commissioner Ryan must stop," Mapps said. "Mobs have descended on his house in the middle of the night in order to intimidate him into voting the way they want. It happened again last night: A mob descended on his house, broke windows and sprayed paint on his home."

Mapps was joined on a press call by about a dozen Black community leaders. His remarks were significant in part because they signaled a new dynamic in City Hall: A Black man will be among the most conservative members of the council, and he is wielding the language of civil rights and equity to condemn the excesses of a protest movement that also says it is seeking racial justice.

"On a personal level, I want to say something to Commissioner Ryan: I feel you," Mapps said. "Your story reminds me of my story and it reminds me of the African American story.…I know what it's like to wait up for the white mob to roll up on your house in the middle of the night because you have the audacity to vote or you had the audacity to hope."

On Thursday afternoon, Ryan cast one of three votes against Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty's proposal to cut $18 million from the Portland Police Bureau budget. That night, about 60 protesters gathered at a nearby park and marched to Ryan's North Portland home, police said, where they lit flares, threw a paint-filled balloon, and broke a window, apparently in retribution for his vote.

The vandalism has been widely condemned by Portland elected officials, including Hardesty, who said "lines have been crossed." But the volume and intensity of that condemnation also suggested a growing frustration with a Black Lives Matters protest movement in the city that has at times resorted to property destruction and increasingly intimidated members of the press, even as its numbers have dwindled to a few hundred regulars a night.

Black community leaders have been vocally skeptical of the protests since July, when masked protesters began vandalizing police precincts. And tonight, Mapps' criticism was echoed by that of state Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-Clackamas), who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and is a key member of the Legislature's BIPOC Caucus.

"The power of protest has the ability to shift the very foundation of governance here in Oregon," Bynum said, "but the collateral damage to residents and small businesses is threatening to dismantle the substantial progress that Oregon's BIPOC communities have achieved over the last several months. I am disturbed to see small businesses repeatedly targeted for destruction when many of those same storefronts proudly support the social justice movement."

Bynum continued, saying she supports Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt's efforts to "hold to account people who commit acts of violence, endanger the health of peaceful protesters, and damage the livelihoods of our downtown businesses.

Talking Target opens its first 'muh target' store in Minneapolis

Quote:
Target reopens E. Lake Street store heavily damaged in riots

The reopening is viewed as a sign of progress in a hard-hit south Minneapolis area.

Target on Lake Street will soon re-open after being gutted during unrest and rioting following the killing of George Floyd in May and seen Tuesday in Minneapolis. Here, contractor Dan Ibrahim installs the last of the ceiling tiles.

The Target store on E. Lake Street in Minneapolis reopens Wednesday for the first time since shutting down in May following riots that destroyed the business and many others along the normally bustling commercial corridor.

The multimillion dollar reopening restores some normalcy to a community hard hit by the civil unrest that broke out all along Lake Street in the wake of George Floyd’s killing at the hands of Minneapolis police.

Target workers early Tuesday were busy nestling melons and bananas into place, adjusting lights, installing the last ceiling tiles and monitoring several newly expanded departments in advance of a limited soft opening later in the day before an official reopening Wednesday.

“The team is really excited about opening this store, providing for the community and to have continuing relationships with guests and community members who flocked to the store to help clean up immediately following the riots,” said Cephas Williams Jr., the group vice president at Target responsible for the stores in the Minneapolis area. “We are humbled and grateful. And we want to help the community rebuild. So today is [just] the beginning.”

In the preceding months, store managers listened to store employees and surveyed neighbors while rebuilding a store that was destroyed down to the studs because of looting, vandalism and sprinkler damage. Target employees worked closely with the Neighborhood Development Center, Lake Street Council, Latino Economic Development Center and others to make sure that the store’s relaunch would serve to heal the community.

While Target’s Midway store in St. Paul reopened a week after it was damaged by the May riots, the destruction of the Lake Street store was far more extensive and took longer to rebuild.

Hundreds of thousands of products had to be replaced during a rebuilding process that cost Target Corp. “millions” of dollars, said Target spokesman Joe Poulos.

Today, the reopened building showcases new murals from local artists from the Juxtaposition Arts that depict the journey of Target’s neighborhood since spring.

The building sports new windows and an additional entrance closer to Lake Street and the light rail, installed in response to local feedback. Also new: additional parking spaces for online pickup orders.

Inside, the produce section offers a wider array of fruits, spices and grab-and-go options. The CVS pharmacy is closer to the front door. And a new and larger beauty section includes five new displays of products aimed at guests with textured hair. The toy section features an expansive and diverse doll selection.

“The assortment of the dolls we have are Hispanic, and African, and African American. The store really expanded its [offerings]. When you walk through that store, we wanted to make sure that every guest felt welcome,” Williams said. Target aims to create a space where the Lake Street community “sees itself reflected,” be it the ads and art in the store to the products on the shelves, he said.

Williams credited the store team for the reopening. “They worked extremely hard to get the store rebuilt. And they were willing to listen and hear the voice of the community,” that led to so many changes. The Lake Street store is the first of nearly 1,870 Targets in the country to carry the Black Excellence clothing line designed by Minneapolis barber and apparel maker Houston White.

Melanie Majors, executive director of the Longfellow Community Council, said Target solicited input from neighborhood groups and shared its plans of its redesign with them. “One of the statements Target has made over and over again is they’re not rebuilding a fortress,” she said. “I think that’s really important. They’re building a much more attractive store.”

While community groups felt it was difficult in the past to connect with Target, they now feel encouraged they have more access to the store’s managers.
“That’s huge for everybody,” Majors said.

Henry Jimenez, executive director of the Latino Economic Development Center, said the Target Foundation financially helped other businesses damaged along Lake Street. Many are Target customers, so the support goes a long way. “I hope everyone shows the same concern and says, ‘How can we continue to support this community?’ ” he said.

More than 50% of Target’s Lake Street store’s hourly workers come from the neighborhood and are people of color, as are 88% of the store leaders. Receiving input from the community residents was critical in decisionmaking, said Williams, who worked with 200 employees from the store this summer to hand out essential goods to residents who suddenly had nowhere to buy milk and bread and diapers. The Cub Foods store next door was also badly damaged and closed.

Cub now operates a tent store next door while it rebuilds.

In the same strip mall as the Target store, a Dollar Tree, Planet Fitness and Minnesota Transitions Charter School remain boarded up. Across Lake Street on Tuesday sat the twisted remains of what was Arby’s sandwich shop.

As a result, it is rewarding to have Target reopened, said two workers Tuesday as they reviewed the progress inside the store. The changes coincide with a pandemic that brought plexiglass to cashier workcells and hand-sanitizing stations into the aisles. The rebuild also launches amid a plethora of Christmas decorations and holiday merchandise.

Post Violence erupts in D.C. following the 'Million MAGA March'

Quote:
Tens of thousands gathered in Freedom Plaza in Washington DC on Saturday for a pro-Trump 'Million MAGA March' in support of the president's unsubstantiated claims of widespread election fraud

Trump's motorcade passed by the ecstatic cheering crowd as he went to his Virginia golf course

Taking part were far-right groups such as the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers militia group

Left-wing groups and self-proclaimed anarchists also showed up to confront Trump's supporters

Skirmishes of pushing and shoving broke out before police formed lines to separate the groups

Two sides traded insults and chants as cops in riot gear stood silently in the middle

As night fell, the clashes grew more violent as the president's supporters dispersed and protesters began to target anyone in Trump attire

Fireworks and bottles were thrown at some Trump fans dining outside

Others were doused with water and saw their MAGA hats and pro-Trump flags snatched

One man was shoved and punched to the ground after pushing a protester

At least ten arrests were made as of Saturday evening

Clashes between anti-Trump protesters and the president's supporters continue into Saturday night in Washington DC after the 'Million MAGA March' invaded the Capitol to support Trump's longshot legal challenges to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory.

Violent scenes erupted as night fell with one Black Lives Matter protester knocked the ground where she was left lying with blood covering her face as the pro-Trump group filmed her and screamed 'F*** Antifa'.

She was eventually helped from the ground and carried to a nearby bench by a police officer as the violence continued around her and cops rushed to try and separate the two groups who had descended into a brawl on the street.

Earlier, anti-Trump protesters were seen throwing fireworks and bottles at his fans as they dined outside a restaurant at around 6pm, with one Trump supporter throwing a chair back in retaliation after a firework exploded right beside him.

The Trump supporters initially tried to shout back at the large group of protesters gathered around them chanting 'people are dying while you are dining', before being forced to flee inside when the fireworks began.

Multiple police lines blocked Trump supporters from entering the Black Lives Matter Plaza area as night fell and tensions rose.

Those who managed to get inside the area were doused with water and saw their MAGA hats and pro-Trump flags snatched. Videos posted on social media showed some demonstrators and counter demonstrators trading shoves, punches and slaps.

A man with a bullhorn yelling 'Get out of here!' was pushed to the street by a man who was then surrounded by several people and shoved and punched until he fell face first into the street. Bloody and dazed, he was picked up and walked to a police officer.

Left and right-wing groups clash in the middle of the street following the 'Million MAGA March'

A Black Lives Matter protester bleeds from the mouth as she lays in the middle of the street during a protest following the 'Million MAGA March'. Video shows members of the Proud Boys surrounding her and filming her as she tried to get up before they were pushed back and a police officer came to carry her to the side of the road

Tens of thousands of Pro-Trump groups gathered in Freedom Plaza at noon on Saturday afternoon, listening to speeches before marching toward the Supreme Court. Left-wing activists also arrived to counter-protest, and minor skirmishes of pushing and shoving broke out, but police formed lines to separate the two groups.

Yet the night wore on, the clashes turned more and more violent as groups of Proud Boys organized and were joined by tens of Trump supporters as they claimed: 'We’re not done cleaning the city tonight, let’s go'.

Just as many left-wing protesters faced off with them, targeting the president's fans who remained. The group were dressed all in black and attacked anyone wearing Trump attire.

Cops surrounded the entrance to The Capitol Hilton near the White House after a confrontation with the anti-Trump protesters. Inside were the president's supporters who held up flags to taunt those outside and rallied outside to sign the national anthem.

One man was detained after a Trump sign was set on fire outside the hotel, according to USA Today, while protesters slashed the tires and defaced a truck with a red Trump hat inside.

Police were eventually forced to use a chemical agent on the protesters as they tried to push them back from the hotel and more arrests were made.

The Proud Boys held their own rally from about 9pm after several altercations between them and protesters. They chanted 'Break out Kyle!' in reference to Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old charged with shooting dead three protesters during Black Lives Matter demonstrations in Wisconsin in August.
As the pro-Trump crowd marched through the heavily Democrat federal district, it raised fears of brawls between competing groups.

Tensions rose as the afternoon wore on, with sporadic but heated screaming matches between participants in the pro-Trump rally and groups of masked counter-protesters bearing signs supporting Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

Cops were quick to intervene, and there were no immediate reports of major violence.

DC Metropolitan Police said they made at least 10 arrests as of Saturday evening, on charges including simple assault, assault on a police officer, and weapons violations.

Four people were arrested for firearm violations, two for assault, one for not having a permit, one for assaulting a police officer and two for disorderly conduct, according to public affairs officer Alaina Gertz.

At around 10.30am, Trump departed the White House and his motorcade drove past the gathering crowd of cheering supporters as he headed to his golf club in Sterling, Virginia.

The motorcade was greeted by applause, cheers, waving and whistles from hundreds of Trump supporters lining both sides of the street.

They punched the air, took photos and held signs that included 'Best prez ever' and 'Stop the steal'.

The crowd also waved flags with messages including 'Trump 2020: Keep America great', 'Trump 2020: No more bulls**t', 'All aboard the Trump train!', 'Women for Trump' and 'Trump 2020: Pro life, pro God, pro gun'.

Inside the armored presidential state car, Trump was spotted smiling, waving and pointing at his supporters.

'I just want to keep up his spirits and let him know we support him,' one Trump loyalist, Anthony Whittaker of Winchester, Virginia, said from outside the Supreme Court, where thousands assembled after a march along Pennsylvania Avenue from Freedom Plaza, near the White House.

The official event ended around 4pm, with organizers telling the crowd to follow a safe exit route protected by police. The Journey song Don't Stop Believin' played as the exuberant crowd dispersed. Few in the massive crowd were observed wearing masks.

The clashes between protesters began almost immediately. In front of Union Station, one Trump supporter was beaten bloody in the head by counter-protesters.

In another shocking scene, a little girl screamed in terror as counter-protesters clashed with a Trump supporter who appeared to be escorting her and her mother away from the Trump event.

The march had gathered Saturday to support Trump's campaign as it files legal challenges complaining that their poll watchers were unable to scrutinize the voting process. Many of those challenges have been tossed out by judges, some within hours of their filing.

A former administration official, Sebastian Gorka, whipped up the crowd by the Supreme Court by saying, 'We can win because he did win.' But, he added, 'It's going to be tough.'

Arrow Our Boy Kyle is Out on Bond!

Quote:

Asked what he would be doing now that he’s a free man, Kyle told the press: “I’m going to Disneyland… to shoot faggots who prey on our nation’s children!”

My man.

NBC News:
Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teenager charged with killing two men during the Jacob Blake protests in Wisconsin this summer, made bail on Friday and walked out of jail, officials said.
“Kyle Rittenhouse’s bond was posted this afternoon at about 2:00 pm which was set up through his attorney,” Kenosha County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Wright said in a statement. “He is no longer in custody at the Kenosha County Jail.”
Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and other charges in connection with the deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, on Aug. 25.
His bail had been set at $2 million. The teen has claimed he was acting out of self-defense.
Kyle obviously did nothing wrong. However, it was believed that he would be destroyed by the system anyway.
However, since his arrest, things have gone in the total opposite direction. He’s got a great team of lawyers, and it’s become very difficult for these people accusing him of “murder” when the entire public has seen the video of him being chased through the streets, and a man pulling a gun on him.

The video is very straightforward.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iryQ...ture=emb_title

It also turned out that one of the people he killed was a convicted homosexual child molester. So it’s hard to drum up sympathy.

Getting released on bond is a big, big deal.

In all likelihood, he will end up being convicted or pleading guilty to some charges, possibly which carry a couple of years in prison, but there is little chance he will be doing decades, as initially appeared to be the case.

However, once again: this is something that will be affected by the political climate in the country. If Joe Biden takes over, Kyle will be in a much worse position than he will be if the Real President remains in office.

Joe Biden has openly accused Rittenhouse of being a white supremacist.
Wendy Rittenhouse, mother of Kyle Rittenhouse, tears into Joe Biden for smearing her son as a white supremacist: "How dare him do that to my son. That's my son that he did that to & I'm not going to back down from him." #JoeBidenIsADisgustingPOSpic.twitter.com/t2gx8w77Hg
— White/Asian Catt (@CattHarmony) November 13, 2020
He is likely to get involved in the case as president, and could in fact order his Justice Department to bring federal charges (which could easily be brought, given that Kyle crossed state lines with a gun before shooting people).

So very much is hanging on this election. All of these big things. And all of the other things.

Talking nigger shot by kwaps, niggers riot in Omaha

Quote:
Omaha cops arrest multiple protesters in violent clashes during demonstration over armed black man who was shot and killed by police after refusing to get out of his friend's car

Police in Omaha have arrested several protesters after demonstrators outside their building, calling for the release of body-camera footage from a controversial shooting, refused to disperse.

Protesters gathered in the Nebraska city on Friday night seeking answers following the death of Kenneth Jones.

Jones, 35, was shot dead by police on Thursday at a traffic stop.

Police said he was 'asked to exit the vehicle' and refused.

'A struggle ensued. Ofc discharged his weapon. Party was struck, transported and later died. Investigation is ongoing,' the police tweeted.

On Friday night dozens of protestors gathered on the sidewalk in front of the police building, chanting and holding up signs.

They beamed a photograph of bloodied hands onto the wall opposite the headquarters, with the wording: 'This isn't transparency. Release the footage of the OPD execution of Kenneth Jones.'

The crowd marched through the street in the Old Market, holding up light-up letters spelling 'OPD WHY.'

Police declared the march to be an unlawful gathering and moved to arrest several protesters - some activists said five were taken into custody.

OPD is yet to comment on the march or the arrests.

The crowd dispersed around 10pm, according to KETV.

Earlier OPD had issued a news release about the shooting on Thursday night.

They said officers ordered Jones, a passenger in a private vehicle, to 'stop reaching' as they attempted to get him out of the car.

According to police, footage from the body cameras worn by the officers show Jones moving around inside the car as police walked towards it.

OPD said officers used a flashlight to break a car window and they said Jones continued to try to pull away.

During the struggle, OPD said a police officer yelled 'he's got a gun' and then 'Gun! Gun! Gun!'

Four shots were fired seconds later, OPD said.

OPD said officers found a loaded .45 caliber handgun under Jones' body.

They said the case will be presented to a grand jury after the investigation.

Police said Jones was released from the Department of Corrections in 2018.

According to police, he was released for being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon.

Todd Schmaderer, Omaha Police Chief, said: 'We would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of Kenneth Jones and the rest of the community that are affected by this incident.

'We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and providing the public with complete details. The investigation is progressing and we ask for patience until it is complete.

'We will keep the public updated as additional information is verified.'

Post Omaha 'protests' continue

Quote:

Protesters gathered in downtown Omaha for a second night to demand the release of video of a fatal police shooting of a Black man during a Nebraska traffic stop last week.

The group of demonstrators gathered outside Omaha Police headquarters again Saturday to press police to release footage of Thursday's shooting death of Kenneth Jones. Police have said that Jones, who was 35, reached for a gun in his waistband before he was shot.

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday police declared the protest an unlawful assembly and arrested several people after some disorderly conduct was reported.

Before the protest, police released the names of the two officers involved in the traffic stop and provided some additional details about the incident. The officers were identified as Officer Dan Faulkner, 29, and Officer Richard Martier, 31, each of whom have been with the department since 2016.

Police said the officers pulled over the vehicle Jones was in after observing it stopped in the middle of the street and then driving forward several feet and stopping several times. The officers said they thought the driver might be impaired.

Police plan to hold a press conference Monday to discuss the shooting further. Officials have said a grand jury will investigate the shooting and that the two officers involved have been put on administrative leave.

Every single one of these shootings of niggers and the protests/riots and fallout after it are exactly the same, like endless reruns of a bad TV show. You don't even need to finish reading the article to know what happened. Rinse and repeat until desired results are achieved.

Thanks, Garrett. I've heard about Salty Cracker, but that's the first video of his I've seen. Waiting to find out what color the shooter of the carjacker is. Imagine how the apes will react if it turns out be a White Trump supporter.

Arrow Anti Thanksgiving 'protests' ...mostly property damage and looting

Quote:
Anti-Thanksgiving 'decolonization' protesters vandalize businesses, tear down statues and deface monuments during two-day crime spree across Oregon, Illinois, Washington and Minnesota

Vandals targeted at least 10 businesses over the Thanksgiving holiday in Portland, Oregon

A memorial in Lone Fir Cemetery was vandalized overnight in the city, according to police

A George Washington statue was pulled down and a pioneer monument was defaced in Minneapolis

In Chicago, people tried to topple a statue of 25th President William McKinley and covered it with spray paint

A statue of former President Abraham Lincoln was vandalized with red paint in Spokane, Washington

Vandals targeted at least businesses in Oregon this Thanksgiving holiday and historical monuments in four US cities were defaced amid two days of protests over the holiday.

The vandals hit in Portland on Thursday as a statue of George Washington was torn down and a pioneer monument was covered in graffiti with phrases like 'No More Genocide' in Minneapolis.

In Chicago, protesters attempted to tear down a statue of 25th President Williams McKinley and covered it with red spray paint.

Further north in Washington State, a statue of former President Abraham Lincoln was cloaked in red paint.

Portland police said they responded to reports of a group of people smashing windows and spray-painting graffiti on buildings.

Businesses hit included banks, an auto service center and a shipping store, police said.

Authorities didn't provide a cost estimate of the damage, but it's in the thousands.

The vandalism was sparked by a call to action via social media on Wednesday , which urged protesters to attack symbols of colonialism, capitalism, and gentrification ahead of Thanksgiving.

Like Columbus Day, some Americans view Thanksgiving as a celebration of Native American conquest by colonialists. Critics have also noted Thanksgiving Day can come with instances of cultural appropriation and decried what they call a white-washing of history.

The phrase 'Land Back' appeared in some vandalism and referred to the The LandBack movement, an Indigenous campaign against white supremacy.

'We must continue to decolonize our minds, communities, and sovereign nations,' per its mission.

'The decolonization of our communities and people is directly related to our ability to prosper."

'Through the revitalization of our Indigenous ceremonies, culture, languages and life ways we will continue to strengthen our identity, and break free from the oppressive systems that disconnect us from achieving the healing growth and connection to spirit that is integral for us as Indigenous people.'

Meanwhile, three people were arrested after a memorial dedicated to war veterans was vandalized and a statue was toppled.

Videos and images showed red paint sprayed onto the column located in the Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland with the words: 'F**k USA.'

A statue that was mounted on top of the structure was also toppled and seen on the ground covered in red paint.

The memorial, which was erected in 1903, honors soldiers of the Civil, Spanish-American, Mexican, and Indian wars, according to the cemetery's website.

Authorities arrested 24-year-old Chester Hester, 38-year-old Nicole Noriega and 23-year-old Bailey Willack. One of the group members was carrying a semi-automatic pistol and could face weapons charges.

They were booked into the Multnomah County Jail, and each face 10 counts of first-degree criminal mischief. It's not clear if they have attorneys.

Police say that, based on statements from witnesses, more people were likely involved, and they plan to continue investigating.

Minneapolis Park Police are investigating after vandals toppled a statue of George Washington and defaced a pioneer monument with anti-colonialist graffiti early Thanksgiving morning.

The Star Tribune reports a statue of Washington was torn from its base in Washburn Fair Oaks Park and splashed with paint.

Several miles away, in northeast Minneapolis' BF Nelson Park, the large granite 'Pioneers Statue' was spray painted with the words 'no thanks,' 'no more genocide,' 'decolonize' and 'land back.'

The monument depicts three generations of a pioneer family, whose men are holding a rifle, ax and plow.

A woman and her newborn stand at their side. On the back of the statue's base, an engraving shows an American Indian handing a peace pipe to Father Hennepin.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board was aware of complaints about the content and subject matter of the statue, a spokeswoman said.
'The MPRB is working together with the community to address and respond using a racial equity lens to determine next steps,' the spokesperson said.

'This spring, a sign was placed near the statue stating this information and inviting people to share their thoughts or be part of framing new directions.'

Park maintenance crews have been notified about the vandalism. No one has been arrested.

The destruction comes six months after protesters pulled down a Christopher Columbus statue outside the State Capitol this summer.

In Chicago vandals tried to topple a park's statue of President William McKinley early Wednesday using a rope tethered to a car, police said.

The attempt to pull down the statue at McKinley Park failed about 4am, but police said the statue was spray-painted with graffiti that CBS 2 reported included the words 'Land Back.'

'There's no indication that the statue moved at all,' authorities told The Chicago Tribune.

statue of Abraham Lincoln was covered in red paint amid anti-colonialism protests in Spokane, Washington

McKinley was president from 1897 to 1901 and his push for westward expansion is now widely criticized as racist, for pushing Indigenous people off their land.

No one was in custody and Chicago police did not have a description of whomever targeted the McKinley statue on the city's southwest side.

Protesters have targeted McKinley statues in Buffalo, New York, and Honolulu this year, among other cities.

An Abraham Lincoln statue in Spokane was also vandalized with red paint. The paint appears to have been applied late Wednesday or early Thursday, the Spokane Police Department said.

Police said there are no suspects and the motive for the vandalism isn't clear.

The statue erected in 1930 is 12 feet high and cost $25,000 at the time.

Joe Biden’s Pick Of Eric Garcetti For Inaugural Job Slammed By BLM LA; Protests Continue Outside Mayor’s Mansion

Less than 24 hours after the LAPD broke up a peaceful Black Lives Matters protest and arrested an activist outside the official residence of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Joe Biden has named Garcetti one of the co-chairs of his inaugural committee.

The selection that has been met with derision and concern by BLM LA and could bode badly for the President-elect with one of his and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ core constituencies.

“It’s beyond disheartening that Biden would ignore the calls of Black organizers who helped elect him and appoint Garcetti to any position the very day after LAPD violently assailed protestors in front of the mayor’s mansion,” BLM LA co-founder Dr. Melina Abdullah told Deadline on Monday.

“We hope that this will be no more than a consolation prize and that Biden will heed the calls not to appoint one of the most problematic mayors in the nation to his cabinet.”

As the region goes into another lockdown due to surging Covid-19 cases, today marks the 14th consecutive day that BLM LA and others have taken to the street outside Getty House to dissuade Biden from handing out a top cabinet post to Garcetti. Essentially a political adopted son to Biden, the soon-to-be termed-out mayor has been tipped as a possible Transportation or Commerce Secretary.

Out in front of the Hancock Park mansion this morning, BLM LA says that Garcetti’s public transportation and homelessness policies, as well as his support of the LAPD and neglect of civic affairs for perceived personal ambition, should disqualify him from being a cabinet pick.

On Sunday, baton-swinging police charged into the crowd near Garcetti’s official residence on the premise that protesters had broken a city noise control code and complaints from neighbors. Amidst the chaos, as you can see in the video below, street medic and neighborhood council member Jamie Penn was arrested for “lynching.” In this case, the loaded term refers to assisting another person in trying to get away from law enforcement.

The actions of the LAPD and the arrest of Penn, a transgender activist, was strongly condemned by a number of local and state representatives.

Post Pro-Trump rally descends into chaos as Proud Boys roam D.C. looking to fight

Quote:
Nearly three dozen people were arrested during a night of unrest in downtown Washington that began Saturday with rallies supporting President Trump and descended into chaos and violence as a group with ties to white nationalism roamed the streets looking to fight.

(Photo by Craig Hudson for The Washington Post) One of those arrested was 29-year-old Phillip Johnson of the District, who was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with at least one of four stabbings that occurred.

For most of the day, police largely kept opposing factions separated, at times frustrating the Proud Boys, a male-chauvinist organization that supports Trump’s attempts to reverse an election he lost.

Confrontations broke out after dark, when Proud Boys and their supporters ventured near Black Lives Matter Plaza and were prevented access by police, many using bicycles as mobile barricades.

Four people were stabbed, one critically, during a scrum near Harry’s Bar at 11th and F streets NW, a Proud Boys hangout where hundreds had gathered, some dressed in body armor and helmets, and where many had been drinking in the street for hours.

[Multiple people stabbed after thousands gather for pro-Trump demonstrations in Washington] It could not immediately be determined whether Johnson is affiliated with any particular group or cause, and police declined to describe the ideologies of either the victims or the suspect.

The Proud Boys, in a post on an encrypted social media account, identified at least one of the victims as belonging to their group.

A police report said the stabbings occurred during a melee amid a sea of Trump supporters. It said one of the victims identified Johnson as the person who allegedly stabbed him.

Police said in a statement that Johnson got into an argument with someone that escalated. Based on a video, the police report says Johnson pulled out a knife after he was pushed in the back. The report says another person repeatedly pulled on Johnson’s mask, at which point one of the victims and another person punched Johnson in the head several times.

D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said detectives believe “others may be involved” and additional arrests might be made. Johnson’s relatives could not be reached for comment. He could make his first court appearance Monday, and it was not clear if he has a lawyer.

[Man arrested in Olympia, Wash., after pro-Trump demonstrations turn violent] Newsham estimated there were as many as 700 Proud Boys or people supporting their cause, a group that often splintered in smaller factions, and about 200 anti-Trump protesters moving about. The chief said officers were “trying to prevent any of these groups from coming together and getting involved in altercations. It was a lot of work.”

Overall, Newsham said “largely, people are going to be very pleased the police department was able to keep it under control to the extent that we did.” He said most activity was limited to small areas of downtown, and some fights involved “mutual combatants.” He said eight officers were injured, one seriously from being struck in the face with an object, causing multiple fractures.

© Craig Hudson for the Washington Post A man cheers as he sees a group of Proud Boys outside McPherson Square during protests Saturday. Police largely kept opposing factions separated during the day, but confrontations broke out after dark. Anti-Trump protesters tried to stay in or as close to Black Lives Matter Plaza as possible, to guard an area they view as belonging to them and to the city. Police blocked off a section to secure a fence lined with posters and placards, many disparaging Trump and law enforcement, and a frequent target of Trump supporters.

The Proud Boys marched in big and small groups, chanting and appearing to try to provoke confrontations.

In the aftermath of the protests, Black Lives Matter banners and signs were torn from two historic Black churches downtown and destroyed. A banner belonging to Asbury United Methodist Church, one of the oldest Black churches in the city, was set on fire.

Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) tweeted Sunday that the District’s “faith-based organizations are at the very heart of our community and an attack on them is an attack on all of us.” She did not comment further. Police said they are investigating the incidents as potential hate crimes.

[Historic D.C. Black churches attacked during pro-Trump rallies Saturday] Organizers of Black Lives Matter DC criticized police and the Bowser administration. They said they did not stage a counter-demonstration, but rather defended Black Lives Matter Plaza from an assault by white supremacists.

They accused police of protecting the Proud Boys as they marched through the District, and “threatened lives, damaged historic churches, destroyed and burned property.”

“The only thing that we ask is that we be able to be safe in our space,” said Nee Nee Taylor, a core organizer with Black Lives Matter, who said she witnessed police arrest a demonstrator of color while directing people she believed to be supporters of Proud Boys to move along. She said police sprayed chemical irritants at street medics and showed up in riot gear “deep” inside the plaza.

Newsham said authorities will look into all complaints and that when officers enter altercations, “We don’t know who belongs to what party. We just try to separate them.” He added, “To suggest the police are protecting one side or another, it’s just not true.”

In all, police said they arrested 33 people on charges that include assault on officers, weapons violations, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and misdemeanor assault. Seventeen of those who were arrested are from the District, Maryland and Virginia. Others are from 11 states, including Maine, Texas, Arizona, Florida and Utah. It could not be determined whether any were Proud Boys or affiliated with any other group.

Thousands gather for pro-Trump rally in District]

Trump supporters gathered in other cities across the country Saturday, including St. Paul, Minn., and Olympia, Wash., where police arrested an armed right-wing protester and charged him with shooting a counterdemonstrator during protests.

In the District, it was a day full of extremes. Black Lives Matter took on festive tones at times, with dancers and music, only to turn tense when Trump supporters and Proud Boys drew near, or police intermittently closed streets.

Several times, the two opposing groups nearly converged near McPherson Square, though police managed to keep them separated. Sometimes, the groups passed within a block of each other, sending police scrambling to intercept. At one point, the D.C. Youth Liberation Front tweeted, “Proud Boys retreating lol.” One person dressed in signature black-and-yellow Proud Boy garb quipped, “We’re on the move. We are like a bunch of wild koalas.”

Unable to reach Black Lives Matter Plaza, the Proud Boys returned to K Street at McPherson Square. Members of the group, which typically voices support for police, grew annoyed. “All you had to do was defend the Constitution,” one told an officer, adding “I never thought I’d say this, but ‘f--- the police.’ ” The Proud Boys said at least one of its members was arrested, and police did use pepper spray against them at times.

[Demonstrators on both sides accuse police of taking sides] Later, the Proud Boys found groups opposed to Trump and skirmishes ensued. In one, counterdemonstrators threw fireworks at the Proud Boys. Newsham showed up outside the Hyatt Place Hotel at 15th and K streets and told an anti-Trump demonstrator, “We’re doing the best we can.” One person responded, “Do a better job.”

Proud Boys on the march typically returned to their home base, Harry’s Bar, where a largely maskless crowd of hundreds gathered. The crowd, dotted with red MAGA hats and the signature black and gold of the Proud Boys, spilled into the street as demonstrators drank from bottles of alcohol and milled around the intersection. Cascading chants of “f--- antifa!” and “USA!” bounced up and down the street.

The mood was jubilant — but tense — as the crowd broke into echoing cries of “uhuru,” a Swahili word for “freedom” that the Proud Boys have appropriated as their battle cry, and they continually approached strangers who looked as though they did not belong. The perceived outsiders were interrogated: “Are you antifa?” some would ask.

Proud Boys with earpieces and microphones signaled the presence of unknown individuals to each other, exchanging hand signals and trailing close behind them.

As the night wore on, small fires broke out as groups ignited signs and banners they had stolen from racial justice and anti-fascist demonstrators in and around Black Lives Matter Plaza.

[Black Lives Matter banners taken from historic churches in District] Earlier in the evening, a group of 14-year-old girls had approached D.C. police officers in tears, pointing at the backs of a group of departing Proud Boys, shouting, “He stole my flag! He stole my Black Lives Matter flag and then he pulled my hair!”

Back at Harry’s, half a dozen Proud Boys marched with a white Black Lives Matter banner down 11th Street toward the churning crowd. As they approached, they began to chant, “All lives matter!” and flash a three-fingered salute that once only meant okay but has over the past several years been co-opted by the far-right to stand for “white power.”

Looking up the hill, the crowd below cheered their arrival. New chants broke out: “F--- BLM,” and a handful of young demonstrators cheered the name of an organization the Anti-Defamation League describes as a “loose network” of white supremacists and far-right activists known as the “Groypers.”

As the banner approached, the group enveloped the returning demonstrators and cheered.

Minutes later, the mood shifted. The crowd rushed toward a boarded-up window on the west side of the street. Several people raised their phones and cameras above their heads, trying to capture the scene in the middle of the fray.

Continued chants of “f--- antifa!” rose to a fever pitch as more Proud Boys pushed their way through the crowd.

A handful of police officers rushed the scene, pushing their way through the group as a line of officers descended, separating the group into two clusters and moving onlookers and approaching demonstrators north to F Street.

A bearded man in a white shirt begged an officer to let him back down, past the police line.

“That’s my brother, that’s my brother down there,” the man said. “I need to get to my brother.”

An officer acquiesced.

“I’m going to give you one chance,” he said, as he pulled the man with him behind the police line.

Two ambulances arrived to the scene shortly thereafter. They appeared to load two men onto stretchers and into transport vehicles. They escorted another man who walked himself into an ambulance.

On the encrypted social media site, the group posted: “Proud Boy stabbed in D.C. looks like he will be fine.”
