I made this. It's mostly reactionary because, well, the media has their bias, so I made mine. This was made on Hitler's birthday and released on his aleged death day.

Yes, Axel has been around for ages, he is the German Ritchie Blackmore.

While very popular in Europe and Japan he is not that well known in the US.

Of course you'd be far more knowledgeable about the Continental European music scene than I would, being there in the midst of it.

When Pell was coming up in the early '80s, we in America got our info about European players & bands from guitar magazines like Guitar Player & Guitar World and general rock fan mags like Hit Parader, Circus & Creem: they did a pretty good job, but if they didn't cover a band and they didn't get airplay (Slade, for a classic example), we didn't know about them. Malmsteen, Schenker & Uli Roth they covered; not Pell, for some reason.

I'll have to delve a little deeper into his stuff on joo toob. Thanks for bringing him to my attention.

Yes, all great players.

The traditional classic Metal stuff has always been much more popular in Europe than in the US. Even during the horrible Grunge/Altrnative era of the early to mid 90s you had people like Axel keeping the spirit of Metal alive.

Nice cover of the old Rainbow classic Temple Of The King, from Czech Republic a few years ago, in honour of DIO.

As if that wasn’t enough, in 2008 Gaahl announced that he was gay – no small decision for a leading figure within a sub-genre where homophobia is not only relatively common among fans, but where more than one high profile musician has actually been jailed in connection with the deaths of gay men.

arguing music is for fags, but i really feel new wave and 80s stuff in general holds up much better than classic rock. always feel like i'm trapped under a million-pound rock when i hear led zeppelin or such

Early years[edit]
Despite its name, Berlin did not have any known major connections with Germany, but instead was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1978. They were inspired by what they were convinced was the unique keyboard work of Kraftwerk, Devo, Sparks and The Screamers. Their first single, "A Matter of Time," was released in early 1979 on Zone-H Records. The single was re-issued in 1980 featuring a replacement vocalist, Virginia Macolino, after Terri Nunn had temporarily left the band to pursue an acting career. (At one point, Nunn auditioned for the role of Leia Organa in the movie Star Wars.[1]) This was followed by the album Information. The team had trouble gaining success, as the music industry at the time thought "new and exciting" meant upbeat guitar-oriented skinny-tie power pop bands with male lead singers, and thus did not understand their synth punk sound and more adventurous subject matter.[2]

The credits on the back of the original Berlin LP always cracked me up:

Terri Nunn - vocals and BJs

Anyone know if they reproduced that on the CD release or not?
