It's the first time since 2011 when the Shuttle program ended that NASA astronauts will lift off from u.s. soil, so this is a significant event.
The SpaceX suits and interior of Crew Dragon look like something from 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was obviously intentional.

When you and I were kids, 2001 represented the bright but far off future that awaited us, but now it's ancient history. I still like the movie, though.

I hope they broadcast the Demo-2 launch on regular TV and not just SpaceX's YouTube channel. I'm sure the commentary from modern reporters will be idiotic, unless they use the NASA PAO commentary. It still doesn't compare to Jack King, the "Voice of Apollo" back in the day for those of us old enough to remember.

Doug Hurley flew on the very last Space Shuttle mission, STS-135 in 2011. This flight will also be the first American crew consisting of only two men since the second Shuttle flight, STS-2 back in 1981 with the ill-fated Columbia. If Demo-2's launch has to be scrubbed for any reason on May 27th, there is another window open for May 30.

Discovery Channel and the Science Channel will broadcast the launch live on Wednesday, May 27 starting at 2 PM Eastern Time/11 AM Pacific Time. I don't know why Katy Perry will be on the show, though. I hope the coverage is at least halfway intelligent and not dumbed down to the level of a 12 year-old.
The mission I am really looking forward to is Artemis 1, set to launch sometime in late 2021 which will be the first flight of NASA's Space Launch System rocket, and will send the first all-up Orion capsule on an unmanned flight around the Moon. The first manned mission, Artemis 2, is scheduled for 2022. Hard to believe I was 10 years old the last time people went to the Moon on Apollo 17 in 1972. When Artemis 2 flies, I will be 60. https://corporate.discovery.com/disc...early-9-years/

They look like Star Wars characters with those cheesy costumes.
I sure wouldn’t want to be riding on that rocket. I have a feeling it won’t go well. |

aerospace industry lost the edge
Back during the late 20th and early 21st century, Wall Street kikes and kike alikes decimated the US aerospace industry for profit while NASA was hollowed out by political hacks and lost the edge the organization once held in space.
Today, they cant produce any novel designs for the military ...has anyone else noticed that all pentagon requests for funding are for upgrades of old aircraft, even their '21st century bomber' the B-21 is nothing more than an upgraded B-2. Remember the assloads of different aircraft white America produced from the 1940's - 1990's ...these revolutionary designs and the space program that landed man on the moon were the product of generations of advances in technology in Europe and the US, where do we see a process like this going on today? Not in the US. Today's US spacecraft look like they came off a Boeing civilian 737 production line, the designs don't look robust enough to be used as space vehicles with their lightweight construction. In spite of all the problems that even an amateur spaceman like myself sees here I give these two white astronauts all the credit in the world to hop a ride on this fucking contraption to LEO and wish 'em godspeed and a safe flight there and back home!
